    GlucomenLx plus

Does anyone else use this meter? For the past few days I've compared the readings with the SD Codefree meter, the Libre meter and the Libre sensors. I've found the Glucomen meter is reading between 1 and 1.5mmol higher than the others. Has anyone else found this?

    Libre and testing strips

A question. If your gp knows you have a Libre, can he then try and reduce the number of strips on prescription? I'm hoping someone is going to say that just because I've bought an "aid" to help understand and manage my diabetes care that it doesn't mean that my gp can reduce his care and...

Getting blood out of a stone !

My first review last year at my gp surgery was a new experience and I didn't really know what to expect. When I asked what the blood test was for, the answer was, "Oh, just routine diabetic checks". Ummm, not very helpful, but considering I was a new member of this exclusive club and still in a...

    Out of curiousity

Has anyone else noticed that there is a new category now - "Rookie" and we all seem to have been changed. As an example, I started out as a "Newcomer", then became a "Regular" and then a "Senior". I've now gone back to "Regular" and some "Legends" have become "Senior". Would love to know how...

    Just out of curiousity

Hi all, I'm a newbie T1 on mixed insulin and managing by bg levels well, 5 - 8.5. My question is - if you are on a basal/bolus regime, can you treat yourself now and again and then bolus for it? The reason I'm asking is that I have just totally succumbed to 5 After 8 mints that have a total of...

    Unwell all day

Evening everyone. I've been feeling unwell all day and have no appetite. I don't think I'm going down with anything, my bg levels have been between 6.4 and 7.8. I'm supposed to inject my mixed insulin prior to dinner, but I don't want anything to eat. Would it be safe to not inject insulin as...

    Totally befuddled

Evening everyone. I've had the most fantastic 3 days where my bg levels have been between 4.9 and 7.8. I have reduced my carbs a little - no potatoes with dinner, but apart from that I've not changed anything. I'm now having to lower my insulin units as I don't want hypos. I don't understand the...

    A huge thank you

I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone on this forum. Being a newby, I've absorbed so much helpful info. I'm unable to give much back at the moment as I'm not experienced enough, but hopefully that'll change given a bit more time. Today has been the best day since I was diagnosed 7...

    Nostalgia

Sitting in front of my pc reading messages on the forum with the radio on in the background and along comes Lionel Richie singing "Destiny". I remember it from years ago in the days when I wasn't diabetic. I'm a newby, still trying to come to terms with this condition, but does anyone else long...

    Marathon

My son, aged 38, has just announced that he's going to do a marathon next year and his chosen charities are Diabetes Uk and Multiple Myeloma (my husband died of the latter). I'm so proud of him.

    Daftest question

I was diagnosed a few months ago as T1 and am now on mixed insulin with good bg levels ranging between 5-9mmol. Having not had the chance of going into the science behind diabetes, there's something I don't understand. I know the pancreas and liver work hand in hand, one producing the insulin...

    Easter

Hi all, This is my first Easter since being diagnosed with T1 and Is anyone else finding it hard to ignore the adverts for chocolate and side stepping the mountains of chocolate eggs in the supermarkets? I have a will of iron, but can't help but dribble as I bypass all these goodies. :***:

    Dos and donts

Because of the "episode" this afternoon it ocurred to me that I don't know the rules that apply to the forum. Obviously no-one should cause offence or be rude, but are there any other rules that I should know about? I only joined the forum a short while ago, so am still finding my feet and don't...

    Apps

I'd be very interested to know what the best Diabetic app is. Are there any recommendations and/or certain no nos. I'd like something that records by bg levels against certain foods. The carb and sat fat content of certain foods (my cholesterol needs to come down) and perhaps even a pretty...

    Gardening

Now that Spring is here, the time is getting closer to being out and about in the garden and my exercise level will therefore be increasing. Because my bg level will obviously drop, I was wondering whether to decrease my morning Insulin before a few hours of gardening or keep topping up my...

    Newcomer's test results

Desperate to share my good news. I was diagnosed last last year with ti diabetes. Today I saw my DSN for the results of the first blood tests I've just recently had. Bearing in mind my bg levels were in the 20s when I was first put on Insulin (mixed), I can't believe what I've achieved. My HBA1c...

    Dreams/Nightmares

Before being diagnosed with T1 when my bg levels were sky high, I used to have vivid dreams that I could remember after I woke up. Now that I have my bg levels under control, I no longer have these dreams, well I probably do, but they're not so dramatic that I remember them. Has anyone else had...

    Curious

I'm a newly diagnosed T1 diabetic. I'm on mixed insulin and managing well, but would love to know what others, that are on a basal/bolus regime and also LCHF , manage to achieve with their bg levels. I'd be interested to see the fasting results and the post prandial figures in comparison to what...

    Mad minute

Is there anyone else who's had a moment of madness and eaten all the wrong things and drunk a little too much? I've had one of those evenings and ignored all the rules and am now going to bed with a bg reading of 8. A bit too high, but not as terrible as I thought it would be. I know I have to...
