    Sore aching weepy eye

Could it be a seasonal allergy? Allergy to weed and birch pollen is rife this time of year. I'm having to take more antihistamines now than in the summer!

    M1 Maculopathy

Hi Received a letter today to say they found M1 Maculopathy at my last screening. Have been bawling my eyes out all night worrying about this. I work really hard to have good bg control and my last HBA1c was 5.9. Just trying to figure out how this has happened when my control is good. I feel...

    Diabetes challenges and pregnancy

I too have been ttc for the last 12 months during which time I've had two early miscarriages. My consultant advises an HBA1C of less than 7 when trying for a baby which mine has been (6.1) so she's pretty confident my two losses are simply bad luck and not related to control. My advice is to...

    Daily Carb Counts - Curious

I've just started low carbing and my diet is along the lines of: Breakfast: Black coffee with cream (the flavoured ones are lush - try cinder toffee), berries and nuts. At weekends I opt for eggs and bacon. Lunch: Salad with cheese and a variety of meats. Dessert spoon of coleslaw. Dinner...

    Diabetic gastroperesis

I had similar symptoms which at first the consultant though was gastroparesis. I had a food motility test where you eat a pancake with tiny amounts if radioactive chemical in it and you are x rayed every 10 mins to see how quickly you digest the food. Mine turned out to be normal. After another...

    Morning Highs?

I'm the same. Have had a few morning reading around 7-8 but quickly shoots up to 11. I just take some adjustment as soon as I wake up and test either to bring it down or stop it going up. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Day 1 Advice - am i on the right track?

As a T1 is it safe for me to go into ketosis? The only time I have done previously is when I was hospitalised with ketoacidosis.... Breakfast is a tricky one. Need ideas for quick breakfasts that don't involve cooked food as i struggle to eat pre lunch. Good call on the jelly and cream - I...

Day 1 Advice - am i on the right track?

I've half heartedly attempted lower carbing before but this time I'm giving it a proper attempt. To start with my goal is less than 70g of carbs per day. Here is my menu for today and my estimated carbs (data from my fitness pal) Breakfast - 11g 50g 2% fat greek yoghurt 30g blueberries 80g...

    Morning Highs?

I don't know for certain if I will meet the NICE guidelines for a pump, the DSN just suggested it might be an option. Strangely my sugars the last two mornings have been in the 7 range but I haven't done anything different. Very confusing! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Morning Highs?

So, I went to see my DSN and basically it is DP and bar getting a pump (which might be an option) there's little I can do except take some rapid insulin on waking which is what I have been doing anyway. With 3am levels around 6 there isn't much margin for increasing my evening Lantus dose -I...

This sounds fab - although I have a feeling liquid Splenda is not available in the UK. What could be used as an alternative? Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Where am I going wrong ?

Some supermarkets add preservatives and additives to their cooked chickens and often use sugar in the baste. Even if you removed the skin some of it could have transferred into the chicken. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Disposing of Test Strips

I wrap mine in a bit of tissue and flush them down the toilet. I usually go to the bathroom to test anyway so it makes sense to me.

    Morning Highs?

So I tested at 3am this morning and my bg was at 6.2. At 7.30am it was 10.4 So, I'm guessing this is dawn phenomenon? Do you recommend I try and get a slot with my DSN to discuss changing basal? I'm certainly not prepared to wake at 3am every day to take Novorapid! Sent from the Diabetes...

    Morning Highs?

Hi everyone, I'm having a real problem with high morning sugars and don't really have a clue why it's happening! For the last couple of nights I've been around the 7 mark before bed which is normal for me but then in the morning my bg has been almost double that! I'm T1 and take a split dose...

    Undiagnosed Sickness?

Thanks Marie. Turns out you were spot on. Was rushed to A&E in absolute agony on Tuesday, gall bladder removed Thursday and discharged today. I am so fortunate to have been able to have the Op private - NHS were saying it could be a few weeks. No way I could have stayed in that kind of pain or...
