What do you do during isolation?

I've made significant progress on my "books to read" pile and have finally reached "The Mirror and the Light". Boccaccio's Decameron waits patiently on the bookcase but it does look a little daunting. I've kept busy knitting and stitching a birth sampler for my new granddaughter. Yesterday I...

    I'm as mad as hell!!

Oh my goodness. I'm so glad I read this. I've had exactly the same problems. I'm on insulin (Humulin) and slow release metformin. My nurse increased the dose to 2000mg a day and the symptoms were unbearable. She's now advised me to stop taking it. I really hope I see major improvement...

    moving abroad

Wow! Thanks for the replies. Phoenix, that was very informative - thank you. We're currently looking at properties in the sunshine (anything to get away from the teaching profession in this country!) My dream retirement is a couple of years away yet (sadly), but I needed to know about diabetes...

    How Rude is Your GP?

No complaints about my GP himself ... he's lovely and always ready to listen. In fact, if I had a complaint at all, it's "don't book an appointment with him because he ALWAYS over-runs!" However, I'm not that impressed with general diabetic care. I was booked in for a Retinoscopy in February...

    Cost saving strategies

Hello all I've been taking the 'slow release' version of Metformin for the last two years (at least). The ordinary stuff gave me terrible stomach cramps. I order my repeat prescriptions online via my surgery. The last lot I picked up were for the ordinary Metformin (i.e. not slow release)...

    Effects of stopping smoking??!!!

I stopped smoking in February (for Lent). I'm still smoke-free and currently hating every minute of it  ! God help me through these next six weeks (I'm a teacher and on summer holiday). I need a cigarette! Maybe going back to smoking will mean that I'll lose the weight I've gained...

    Hayfever

Am new to this forum ... and relatively new to diabetes (type 2). For years I have used Piriton for my hayfever (and it works - other, like Zirtec, haven't). I also used to regularly eat local honey all year round, usually on toast at breakfast. This did help reduce symptoms. However, since...
