DKA - feeling like I'm losing it again.

Hi! In terms of your injection pain I have a similar experience sometimes. It is mainly with my lantus (which seems to be because of it's makeup, and unfortunately I can't do much about that). But, occasionally it happens with my novarapid. I find it's usually the spot I've chosen and it does...

It's been 35ºC today. How have your sugar levels been reacting?

Thanks tim2000s! Worth a go, I had never thought of that being the culprit and was sure it was the bolus!

Traveling to USA from Europe. Tips?

When I flew to Japan last year it was a 13 hour flight with an 8 hour time delay. I also take novarapid and lantus, but I take lantus before bed. I just didn't take my lantus at all during the flight, and just had novarapid (mainly because I wasn't sure what else to do!) But it worked for me :-)

It's been 35ºC today. How have your sugar levels been reacting?

So..Sat waiting for the results of the second hypo of the day to wear off and spotted this (excuse any typos/nonsense :-S) So, the usual reaction to any remotely pleasant, warm weather is lower blood sugar and the off hyping as I struggle to keep BG high enough... Well, what's currently...

    I'm struggling

Hi fumanchu! I am a t1 'low carber' but I think the real LC people out there would be horrified by my diet! This is mainly because I too, struggle with fatty foods. I aim for less than 100g a day. Sometimes it's as low as 60 and sometimes as high as 130 (mainly down to hypo treatments) I...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Got my results yesterday. Down to 7.2 from 11.8. I am aiming to be below 6 but definitely on the right track and feeling like the hardwork is starting to pay off :-)

    LC yay or nay?!

This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much! There is a lot of positives and success stories on here, but I knew there must be some initial issues and I just wanted an idea of what these would be before jumping into it :-) In conclusion, I am definitely going to give it a go! You...

    LC yay or nay?!

Thanks for your reply @azure to be honest, I haven't had my HbA1C done in many years (head in the sand job) but I know the last one was around 9. Since I have been counting, it works out an average of around 300 a day. I don't need to lose weight as I am perfectly healthy weight, just my habits...

    Type 1 diabetes

Thank you @tim2000s and @dtennant9! Good to know I'm not going mad, and also I'd rather have the pain and have it work :-) :-)

    LC yay or nay?!

I'll try to keep this short and sweet :-) Been T1 for 18 years, finally got a grip and trying really hard to behave myself. I have recently joined the forum and been pouring over all the useful information for a while now, thank you all! :angelic: Now, down to brass tacks. Should I go LC? I...

Poll: Which diabetes course(s) have you attended?

I have been T1 for 18 years and wasn't even aware there were courses :-o I have been on this site for a little over a week and have learnt more than the last 18 years from the various care teams I have been under, worrying but true!

    Type 1 diabetes

Hi! I am on about the same lantus as you at night time, no extra hunger but I have been using it for 7 years or so, could have been different at the start! What I do get is quite severe, burning pain sometimes from it - almost as if my body is allergic once it is injected?! But, as I say not...

Not taking my insulin or bloodsugar.

Hi Julia I completely understand. I was diagnosed at 11 and didn't cope, I didn't want to be different to my friends, I didn't want to eat differently or to have to be so careful all the time. It has now been 18 years and to tell you the truth, I still feel like that. I am, however, trying...
