    Feeling unable to cope

Hi, Following for others responses. I will say that myself, I have recently been terrible with diabetic housekeeping, only during DAFNE have I been able to stabilise and dramatically reduce my levels, although this is during a week completely different from my usual routine. So I find myself in...

What to do with empty test strip pots?

If you painted them, you could use them as containers for Geocaching.

    Type 1 Scuba diving

i too am interested in Scuba Diving, only ever been snorkelling. However, one tip I do have which can be shared between, is that a dry bag is very useful when out in the water. It is essentially a waterproof bag, that can provide floatation. Not all can be submerged deeply as in scuba diving but...

Feel like my friends are getting bored with my diabetes

It may be that these people are unsure on how they can communicate with yourself on such. As they do not have any primary experience with Diabetes, it can be difficult for them to empathise or understand how you feel regarding it, some aspects of what you say regarding (Blood Glucose levels...

Room 101 (like the TV prog)

Tuition Fees are high, the economy is **** and I'm convinced the local MP is not human, but instead a paper bag filled with unmarked bank notes. However I feel Jamie Oliver should go to room 101.

Your thoughts on the future of the forum

I definitely agree, I don't like the fact that threads on here are shared on to Facebook for all to see. It would be nice if you could at least opt in to have your threads shared or if they asked you if you were ok with sharing your post.

    annoyed with my brain

Hopefully college will give you extension if you let your tutor know as soon as possible. However even if you don't finish or complete it all, still hand it in. A lower grade is better than no submission as your grade will be capped.

The five presents to get someone with diabetes blog post...

I think generally the Diabetes.co.uk journalists don't have a clue. Today there was a post on 11 healthy snacks, the things you could do with an avocado. It was spelt wrong and the only suggestion regarding avocado was to have a bowl of it with vinegar. eyh please use your position to share...

    Naturopathic alternative to Metformin

First link http://livinlavidalowcarb.com/blog/ carries a disclaimer "Please consult with your own physician or health care specialist regarding the suggestions and recommendations" Ehh, I've seen a similar site in which a blogger trashes all Diabetics as fat lazy slobs, and we should buy...

    Colds

Yes most likely. With being Diabetic (Type 1) comes the rubbish immune system. A cold/flu or viral throat infection can take a good 3 or 4 week in my experience to clear. If it's something you are worried, take it with your GP or DSN.

    Naturopathic alternative to Metformin

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a scientifically-proved herbal alternative as current medicine is the best we have. An exotic veggie is no substitute for a pill with controlled amount of substances with the same amount of scrutineering a manned soyuz rocket goes under before cleared for...

    Facebook groups

There is one called Young Adults with Type 1 Diabetes, not exactly the busiest group though, however I don't think there is much around at the minute.

How do I blend in at school?

A little bit more context if you can. If those asking you are in your close friend circle, then you can be direct with them and just heads up on that you're ok unless the "hypo circumstances", these people will be most understanding and will not think differently of you. If these people not are...

Your thoughts on the future of the forum

A subforum for 18-25. There are too many of the above using the children and teens and the discussions on there are far too uncomfortable for those the sub is intended for. I did make a pm about this but no such response for the highest of the ups.

    given up.

A start is to definitely do the finger pricks. You will not know how you are/your condition if you don't test. Don't think that you are alone, most will undergo this phase at one point in their lives and there are many going through same the motions currently. There is always support on here and...

What do we love/hate/like about this festive time ..

it's all a bloody faff this christmas, i don't mind the cards and the lights. but i never have enough socks because people have stopped giving socks as a present. so this means i have to still go to the shops that are full of people looking for sales, just so i can have a pair of socks that...

    Exercise with type 1?

Get a hobby maybe. (sounds bad that but internet text doesn't carry tone so it looks a bit sharp). I mean find something you enjoy doing and find ways it can benefit or improve life by combing activity with it. Little things mount up, even walking. If you're interested in photography as such...

My injections have been painful recently

Trying pinching the injection site with your other hand to create a (generic term) cushion of body fat. As above try shorter needles or injecting at an angle.
