    Well this is fun!!!!

magnesium is a laxative (Milk of Magnesia, Epsom salts etc0 so is the last thing you need to consider at the moment. Salt is a better electolyte to supplement at the moment since this is being depleted by the toilet runs.

    Update on Ozempic Shortages

Was watching a News discussion program on TV last night (possinbly Newsnight) and the topic turned to the shortage of weight loss jabs. It was discussed that the price being charged for this treatment has made it a honeypot for black marketeers and criminals. I found out yesterday that a local...

Here is one of the papers that Mastering Diabetes uses to back up their claims https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/article-abstract/535594 note that this report has references to chatbot AI and is probably not the original paper but a rewrite. The style of this abstract...

Part 2 of a rant from an armchair pipesmoking endo-no-wannabe. If we again assume the claims made for the MD diet to be true, then we must consider the claim that MD plan reduces Insulin Resistance (IR) Now the ND study used an MRI scanner to actually measure the fat content in the pancreas...

    Mastering diabetes

I still have an unanswered conundrum regarding the Mastering Diabetes Plan, and that is - if we assume that the claims being made are actually true, then where on earth do the excess carbohydrates go? They seem to disappear as if by magic. Now the diet is classed as LFHCCC which is ultra low...

    Ozempic Side Effects

If your consultant is sure, of probable causation, then he should have raised a Yellow Card report to log this event as an adverse effect of a medication. In the US these yellow cards are under the control of the FDA who can enforce changes to prescribing info to add warnings etc. There is a...

Very high sugar level after intermittent fasting

If you are actually T2, then you may have Insulin resistance so that your mealtime post partum results remain high because the insulin is not so effective as it should be. i am not an insulin user, but this might be a possibility. The 2 part regime suggested by Antje and others would probably...

Sadly the manufacturer is of the opinion that such cases are diabetic gastroparesis, and not caused by the medication. The jury is still out as I speak...

My research in another thread has found that the LFHCC diet as described in the Mastering Diabetes plan may be harmful in the longer term https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/JAHA.119.014119 The problem is that the Low Fat forces the body into synthesising its own fat by a process called de...

    An all-in attempt at remission/reversal!

following on from my last post, a salutary warning that is very pertinent to this thread https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/JAHA.119.014119 Please note that they found a direct correlation between Heart Failure and the LFHCC diet that caused problems the longer the diet is followed.

I believe the principles of the diet are not specific to plant based, but the MD plan itself is WFPB i.e. fully plant based. It is classed as Low Fat High Complex Carbs ( LFHCC).

    An all-in attempt at remission/reversal!

That drop in bgl is probably due to the low fat intake. Your body needs fats to survive, so it synthesises what fats it needs from (a) cut and shut on eaten dietary fats , (B) building fats from scratch from glucose by de novo lipogenesis, and finally if the bgl levels are low below about 100...

    dapagliflozin

Thank you. Yes I did manage to deal with things ok by rehydrating myself and doing a lot of flushing out. I have virtually stopped taking the Dapa as I had too many nasty side effects for comfort. I have tweaked my diet instead but for me dapa did very little for my sugar levels anyway.

    dapagliflozin

The study I saw into eUDKA did advise keeping bgl levles of 6 and above. I too went at risk by using low(ish) carb diet while on it, but I had an infection , and my ketones shot up to 8 mmol/l which while still safe, is well on the way to DKA. Normally my dietary ketones are below 1 mmol/l...

    dapagliflozin

Dapagliflozin should not be used with low carb or keto diets. The patient notes say any LC diet should be stopped while on this med.

    dapagliflozin

Dapagliflozin is contraindicated for anyone with low kidney function. If your eGFR is lower than 60 you should not be taking this medication. It must be withdrawn if eGFR is 40 or lower. It is not a sweet. The possiblilities of DKA are real, as I found out myself, so please get some means of...
