Targets for readings 10-12? Im getting so depressed

Thank you so much for your replies. They mean a lot to me. Im really interested in the porcine insulin, and my hospital have some patients on it so it may be something I try soon. I'm not depressed- I've been there done that! When I was depressed I literally didn't give a **** about anything in...

Dietician advised me to eat at least 270g of carbohydrate!

I know. Its hard enough even when you ARE equipped with the right information- let alone trying to manage with a dubious set of rules and guidelines! I really do appreciate my diabetes team, and have learned useful things on this carbohydrate counting course, but...I was sooooo surprised when...

    Just Not Motivated

You sound like me a few years ago, its a frame of mind that plenty of us can identify with. Its one of the reasons I think there needs to be more support and education for young adults trying to cope with diabetes- there simply is not enough accessible support or information out there. When I...

Dietician advised me to eat at least 270g of carbohydrate!

Thank you, Fergus. So- would that mean if you ate 30g of protein, and if 15g converted to glucose- you would give fast acting insulin as if you were dealing with 15g of carbohydrate?

Targets for readings 10-12? Im getting so depressed

Hi guys I'd be very grateful if I could get some opinions? I've had diabetes for thirteen years. For the first four or five years I had what was called very good control, as a child- about 7 or 7.5 with hardly any lows or highs. Then for about five or six years, I'd say I had very poor...

Dietician advised me to eat at least 270g of carbohydrate!

As a MINIMUM! What the hell? I just can't squeeze in that amount of starchy food without feeling overstuffed and uncomfortable! I doubt many non-diabetic, normal-weight people my height (5'3) eat that much carbohydrate naturally...it seems such odd advice. Needless to say I won't be attempting...

    Exercise while low carbing?

So have you reduced your insulin a bit to cancel out the extra energy burnt while running? If so- thats kind of the way I want to head myself...

    Finding low carb really hard

How low are you going with the carbs? Only if you are cutting them out totally like Atkins, thats going to be very difficult if you are like me! I'm simply reducing them first- I've halved my intake- and already I feel better for it, and in a while will possibly reduce again- its not hard at all...

Potassium- should reducing insulin+carbs be done gradually?

My goodness, I seem to be making many threads! Just a quick query- I've reduced my insulin by about half, maybe two thirds, in the last few days to correspond to less carbohydrate. Blood sugars are already a slight bit better (not dramatic, which is good-wanna do this slowly) but I know that...

Type 1 Diabetic With NEW Tattoo

Thats cool :D Great idea! I thought this thread was going to be along the lines of worrying about whether it would take longer to heal, lol. Incidentally do any of you find this? I had mine done when I was seventeen and in my reckless-about-diabetes phase, and it healed completely normally and...

Thanks. Could you possibly link me to a low carb+ exercise thread then? I had a look but didnt find any!

    Exercise while low carbing?

When eating a restricted carb diet, what ways do you adjust for exercise? Do you take snack on carbohydrate things to fend off hypos? Or reduce insulin even more than ususal? Thanks!

    Sandwich

Why is this then? Because of carbs or something else? I want to reduce carbs to about half my current intake eventually- but I love a good sandwich! 8)

    citalopram and neuropathy

Wonder if thats the same for escitalopram as well, which I believe is closely related. I took Lexapro, or escitalopram, for about nine months and found it a very beneficial drug.

Omg, everyone is on such low doses of Levimir/ Lantus. I take 32 units- splitting the dose- per day!!!
