    I need chocolate

hi, I have diabetes because of pancreatitus too.... I have a small amount of cadburys milk chocolate, sorry, not the entire bar anymore! But a heroes or a small kids sized one (say a freddo or slim dairy milk) doesnt affect my sugars as bad as a piece of fruit does - personally I would prefer...

Type 3c - how many are we?

Hiya, your situation sounds similar to mine, type 1.5 is relatively new. I am lucky I don't need any Creon right now, but I am told my pancreatic function is diminishing rapidly (probably due to being treated as type 2 incorrectly for too long). As part of your pancreas is working still, they...

Type 3c - how many are we?

Hiya! I was classed as not type 2 nor type 1, someone here said we are type 1.5, but I have never heard of it before it was mentioned here.... If you search type 1.5 on this forum I am sure we have something set up for us under new classifications. Good luck x

    Put on statins, have questions

I am the same. My cholesterol hasn't moved in over 3 years and now they are threatening me with statins also. My nurse wants me under 2.5 - the margins are getting tighter for us in the UK.

    Diabetes Burnout.

Just stumbled across this thread... this is what I am going through right now. I have worked so hard, tried so much and had so many things go wrong not due to me I am just done with it all. I have a great team behind me now who encourage me to keep going but even they aren't helping me though...

    Sweet Tooth

I agree, I crave sugar like mad! And milk.... Ahh milk... milkshakes..... mmmmmmm. Don't give in though, even though you enjoy it, its not good for you. Or do what I do, 1 day a week I have 1 meal of whatever I choose. Though I don't usually go sugarific I do let myself have a chocolate...

    Weight gain after starting insulin

Hey, similar to you (not sure if type 1.5), I gained with my insulin too, am also on basal 12hr release overnight but meds the rest. I have levelled off now and stopped gaining but yes, for the first few weeks I gained sadly while my body readjusted. It will level off slowly - just keep active...

Type 1 Diabetes is killing me

I love this forum, the people are just amazing and you are so in the right place for support from friends, new and newer :) I agree with all you are saying, though not type 1 I have had the 30+ sugars and I felt quite honestly, like poop. Day in, day out feeling grotty. It leads to depression...

    Scared Lost & Confused

Ahh apologies, my doctors labelled me and my specialist must have amended it - I still refer to myself as type 2 because I hadn't heard of any other types and I am not type 1... usually I say I am type 1.5 (in jest) as my pancreas is a moody little thing but not dead yet.

    My mother does not understand.

Aww honey, I am sorry. I have had similar from my mother who told me "I deserved it". Shes a qualified staff nurse who assumed my diabetes was weight based not medical based. Keep talking, I cut all contact with my mum 2 years ago, and am better for it, but it seems your mum is probably upset...

    Scared Lost & Confused

Hi Dillinger, I spent 2 years trying the low carb diet and all it did was give me worryingly high sugars. Eating regular carbs works for me and maintains my sugars around the 7-9 mark throughout the day right now (I started a new course of drugs a month ago so whilst high, its actually better...

    Scared Lost & Confused

Hi, I go off what my specialist nurse tells me. My pancreas was damaged during a procedure at the hospital which should have blasted gall stones but instead blasted air directly into my pancreas, whilst it functions, it now functions sporadically. Add to this I was put onto sitagliptin for 2...

    Scared Lost & Confused

Hi, As a type 2 on Metformin and a whole host of other stuff myself, it never has been enough for me. My last result was over 90, so I am about the same as you.... I am on a lot of other drugs but the dapafligloxin (or capa is the sister drug) is working wonders and although doesnt "aide...
