Thank you. I'm going to see my GP tomorrow about something totally unrelated but I could mention it to him.

    Supplements and Metformin

Can anyone please tell me if it's ok to take supplements such as chromium and magnesium citrate together with Metformin. I am type 2 and my glucose levels are pretty stable around the 6.6 mark;I have been prescribed 500mg of Metformin twice daily. Many thanks.

Look at what we're missing out on...

That's really kind of you but I'm Jewish so I must gracefully decline! There will be more for everyone else though.

    Vitamin B complex

I have a reasonably good diet although I am deficient in vitamin D3 so I was prescribed a supplement for that. B complex was suggested by a friend who noticed I was a bit run down.

    Vitamin B complex

Is anybody able to tell me if it is ok for someone who is type 2 to take a vitamin B complex supplement? I read on the bottle that it helps release energy from food and I wondered if that would raise BG levels. Thanks in advance.

Does your health practice provide you with testing strips? Where I go doesn't provide them because they consider that non insulin dependant diabetics don't need them even though that is disputed by others in the medical profession. I don't get confused when my sugars are dropping but...

    Another New Type 2

My doctor is of the opinion that diet alone is not sufficient so I was put straight on medication but I know there are other schools of thought. I do a fair amount of walking and my work is quite physical. It's interesting you mention about your memory because I can be talking to someone...

    Another New Type 2

Thank you Sandy. My biggest confusion is to do with food I have been told by the diabetes group that starchy carbohydrates are fine in sensible proportions because they keep you satisfied for longer but someone else told me to avoid bread, pasta and potatoes. I don't eat many potatoes but I do...

If someone else suggests it's all my fault...

So that's why I got diabetes, because I drank coke and there was me thinking I was just plain unlucky! I wish people who know nothing about this subject would keep their lack of knowledge to themselves and you are right there are some very supportive people around too.

Thank you and I have been looking at some of the other forums and it's very informative here. I'm particularly interested in diet management because I have been given pretty confusing information.

I just want to say hello to everyone here; my name is Debbie and I was diagnosed in June 2008. Interestingly I had no symptoms of diabetes and the problem was first picked up when I went to see my rheumatologist who asked for a urine sample. Anyway he detected sugar in the sample and sent me...
