Curious! How and what do you all take to treat your hypos?

The TV program you saw about dogs being able to detect low BG is very true! Both my Husky and my Border Collie can detect before I can. I normally feel a hypo around 3.8 but my dogs would start fussing over me about 10mins before, they will jump on the bed and lick me, if im sat in a chair they...

Curious! How and what do you all take to treat your hypos?

Run up and down the stairs! wow that's an interesting plan to get you to hypo o_O I am sorry that your first experience of a hypo was so awful for both yourself and your husband, it was wrong of the hospital to send you home without experiencing a hypo, just ridiculous.

Curious! How and what do you all take to treat your hypos?

Yes when I was changed over to Lantus or Solostar now, I was told it lasted 24hours. But day after day around 3pm I became tired and worn out. My Diabetic nurse told me that Lantus was ment to last 24 hours but doesn't for everyone, so I now take half my dose in the morning and the other half at...

Curious! How and what do you all take to treat your hypos?

Yes, when I was diagnosed it was NO sugar apart from if you hypo! I went on for years like that and in a way still do, sweet foods make me feel ill just looking at them most of the time and after a hypo I tend to experience stomach cramps. I think after all these years I may have a slight sugar...

Curious! How and what do you all take to treat your hypos?

Interesting you both use a solid sugar rather then a liquid. I find personally that liquid works faster for me and I hold it in my mouth before I swallow as your gums are the fastest absorber to get sugar in the blood stream.

What test was used for your diagnosis?

None of these! I was diagnosed in 1993 and my doctor asked me to wee on a Ketone stick. It went dark purple and I was admitted straight to hospital. I was given fluids on a drip straight away and treated with insulin injection within the hour. Sounds a completely different process these days!

Curious! How and what do you all take to treat your hypos?

Hi I am just curious to how and what we all take to treat our hypos? When I first became Type 1 Diabetic in 1993 I was told to have a glass of milk and eat 2 Digestive biscuits. For the past 14 years though I have 15ml of Lucozade and Alpen Bars. I then wait 10 to 15mins and check my blood sugar...
