What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

@dragongirl that bread does look good, especially the walnut loaf, but 23g carbs per 50g slice? I rejected the idea of the walnut loaf for said reasons! The plain (flax) one is fine. Besides, I have walnuts at lunchtime with blueberries and cheese - and a small glass of red wine if I feel like...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I'm sure someone will have mentioned this somewhere at some point, but this week I've been eating www.Lizza.de (or www.lizza.net according to where you live) low-carb bread. I really like it although I've adjusted how they say cook it (we are used to making bread, though not for me these days...

    COVID-19 Track and Trace scam

Ha! It's so big I missed it while looking at the tiny icons on the editing row. Oh well... many thanks!

    Low carb programme advice

I haven't used the programme on here because 11 years ago when I first visited this site, the programme didn't exist so I just followed all the helpful advice I found here and within weeks had readings on the 5% bench (35 mmols, 36, 37 etc) and have kept them there ever since. I can't image the...

    Pepsi max

I don't like Pepsi but it's supposed to be free of carbs, isn't it? I wouldn't expect it to alter my readings. I wonder what others have found?

    What to drink

Well you could scold (um, I meant scald!) a sliced lemon in a pint of boiling water with a couple of Sweetex tablets stirred in; or drink dreaded coke (diet version of course); or put a minuscule amount of sour cherry concentrate in a whole glass of water, which just takes the edge off plain...

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

Thank you so much for your answer. I guess that’s the best we can do. Just didn’t want to think I’d be put on meds after all these years of effort! So hopefully not too much damage will be done in two weeks illness then.

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

Any chance of wiser people sharing how to keep blood sugar readings down if we catch it? I know they'll rise to fight infection - I'm speaking as a T2, who (like many of you) keeps on the 5% bench through diet alone, and have done for 11 years since diagnosis. And am otherwise healthy bar some...

    low carbs and losing weight

Hi - you're doing fine. Don't worry but do 'u'p your fats as people have said. With regard to cholesterol, if you divide the total by the HDL figure, you get a ratio. It's the ratio that matters most and keeping it below 4 is best. To do that you obviously have to raise the HDL figure so the...

    Protein In Breakfasts

I love mackerel and salmon, but not first thing! I tend to go for cold chicken breast, a hard-boiled egg, cucumber and a couple of radishes - naughtily topped with some mayo! (I'm totally diet controlled T2 and always on the hba1c 5% bench.) I can walk a few miles (maybe 7) with this inside me...

    Sudden unexplained weight loss

Sorry - the BMI was just to say how far under the underweight limit it now is. Re the others, only thyroid is in question as the others all are accounted for and fine. I know it's only opinion on here but getting an appointment isn't easy so I thought I'd ask first. Seems the GP is the way to go...

OK, looks like that's what will have to happen. Trouble is getting an appointment before I get so thin they can't see me!!

    Sudden unexplained weight loss

I did two days of thorough testing earlier in the week (And I often do spot tests for various reasons). These showed all 5.3 or 5.4 except one hour after meals when it was 6.2. Two hours afterwards it was all normal again. I did three hours too, just to be sure!

    Sudden unexplained weight loss

Ten years on, after ten years of hba1c on the 5% bench since a few weeks after diagnosis, and excellent cho ratios, and a stable weight of 8st 7lbs (I was always one of the "not overweight people" with diabetes T2), I find in the last two weeks I have lost 5lbs and am permanently hungry. I eat...

    Carnivore Diet

For travelling around with meat and other perishables, I use this Mobicool bag (Mobicool S32 12 Volt Electric Cool Bag) that plugs into the car and also has an electric plug end for hotel rooms. I have never had a problem in 9 years with this item. And I use it a lot! Hotels don't mind either...

    Breakfast and fruit

Hi Bigsi from me too! Sounds like you're definitely going to make all the right decisions and win the war! In case it helps, I bought (9 years ago) the Collins Gem Carb Counter - a tiny book that lists all the foods generically with their carbs, fat, protein etc. Dead helpful when starting out -...

Any decent low carb breakfast cereals out there?

I eat cold meat with something like cucumber and radish (to involve coloured veg) plus some mayo. The supermarkets do some nice cold pieces of chicken - you have to beware the packeted stuff that has added carbs. Meat doesn't have carbs!! This means I use a plate, a sharp knife and my cutlery...
