    how much glucose when hypo?

how much glucose do you take to treat a hypo, and does it depend how low you are? my son is 11 and we are told to treat any hypo with 15g. unfortunately this can send him sky high! we also find that glucose tabs don't do it so much, but 15g glucojuice can send his BG flying! jonesy

i buy the glucojuice from the medical shop on this very site. go to the home page and at the top there is a link for 'products', click on this and scroll down. there you will find a link to the medical shop. we also use the glucotabs from there. they are marked clearly as 4g each. just saves...

    help for getting a pump......

before my son got his pump, i was advised to go to a site dedicated to helping people obtain a pump. it was run by a really helpful guy, who offered sound advice that really helped us. now i want to recommend this site to a friend and can't remember what it was called. sorry for being so...

    remote control pump

my son had a problem with his remote not always connecting. we rang the care line and they sent us a new remote. it's fairly simple! the accu chek is a great pump that works perfectly. maybe you need to remove your animas rose tinted glasses and look at the accu chek again. jonesy

    Bg's and Football

when my son plays football, or any sport, we only give him 75% of his bolus amount for the meals before and after. this seems to work well for us. the other thing we do is a bit different as he has a pump. we drop his basal rate down to 70% for 3 or 4 hours. jonesy

    accu chek Rapid D....

our hospital didn't offer the dana R and we didn't want to make a fuss, seeing as they'd granted us funding straight away. also i reckon a company as big as roche should offer better 'after sales' service. for some reason, the flex link plus only work for 2 days on my son, so no difference with...

    infusion set change......

my boy on accu chek combo....he uses the cannula that should last 3 days, but doesn't on him. even though we were advised to change everything together, every 2 days, i'd heard that people keep insulin in cartridge for 6 days. just seemed logical to me to copy that. also, can't see why tube...
