Type 2 Preconception and Pregnancy Help...First Time Parents

Type 2, pregnant with my second baby at 40 - I was diet controlled with my first before conception and took Metformin through pregnancy. This time around I was on Metformin X 3 daily, hba1c was 35 both times and my BMI was just under 30 I conceived so think that was my sweet spot health-wise...

    Prediabetic and pregnant

I was initially diagnosed as prediabetic with an Hba1c of 48 in November 2015 (I know, not sure why prediabetic and not diabetic!) I then lowered it to 39 on subsequent tests by low carbing although control over the last 6 months hasn't been great and my latest test was at 42. My fasting and...

    Prediabetes & pregnancy

I was diagnosed with prediabetes last November with a hba1c of 48 and subsequently lowered it to 39 at last test. My partner and I are thinking of trying for a baby in the next few months and I've been having a look on the forum in the pregnancy section but most of the posters I can see are type...

    Thank you

He seemed interested and positive but you never know if they're just trying to encourage you I guess! I never seem to see the same doctor so may not get the same reception next time. I've got a follow up hba1c in 6 months so guess I'll see then what they say.

    Thank you

I have had my second hba1c test results yesterday. Since November 15 it's dropped from 49 to 39 and I've lost a stone. The doctor was pleased and asked how I'd done it - I explained I'd followed a low carb diet and tested my blood glucose levels to check what I could and couldn't tolerate...

    Hyper reaction to aubergine?

My other half cooked tea tonight which included several slices of grilled aubergine. When I checked my blood sugar it came back at 11.1 which is miles higher than anything I've had since starting monitoring, and I feel tired, thirsty and sluggish. I had a highish (about 9) reading having an...

    Test strips

Thanks, yes it was amusing (!) that the monitor starter kit was half the price of 50 strips . Will look into getting the SD monitor - I assume it's no more accurate or inaccurate than other monitors in the market?

    Test strips

Do you have to use the specific brands test strips? Specifically am looking at the Accu check aviva monitor and BG Star test strips as there is £10 difference in boots

    App recommendations

What apps would people recommend for monitoring and analysing blood glucose, food intake, weight etc? I've got the PA diabetes app from this site but wondered if there's anything out there which offers different functionality?

    Mixed messages

Thanks everyone that's all been really helpful and very reassuring. Looking here and elsewhere on the Internet it looks like low carb diet is the most common suggestion, I suspect my partner will be less than enthusiastic about the idea though so any recipe suggestions gratefully accepted :)...

    Mixed messages

Hi there, I've recently been to the GP and wanted some advice as I've been given some mixed messages and am not sure how to proceed - I recently went to the doctor as I'd been feeling dehydrated at night and getting dry mouth and eyes - he sent me for a fasting blood glucose test, and when that...
