    Rising BG levels

Hi. My blood sugars started getting higher about two weeks ago. My normal fasting levels are 4.7-5.5 but I started getting 6+ and even 7. I also seem to be getting indigestion and bloating, but otherwise ok. It’s so difficult to see a gp or even speak to one for any help. Any thoughts?

    carbs and statins

I take statins but I do wonder about the possible side effects and to date my GP dismisses my queries as nonsense. I suggested coming off them and seeing what if anything this did to my cholesterol level currently 4.1, but he did not think this was a good idea. So in the meantime I suppose I'll...

    tear duct problems

Has anyone had problems with their eyes, as in over production of tears/possible blockage? I've had this for a couple of months and although reassuringly, my eyes are healthy and sight not too bad, it is really irritating. My doc has more or less said there is nothing he can do and my...

    how many carbs

I would advise testing lots before and after meals to find out what you can eat and keep your BG levels good. I used to eat porridge but had to cut it out altogether because it pushes my BG over 12 for the first hour although back to normal by second hour after eating. Pasta is similar and...

    Weight loss.

You are what you eat....I don't know who said it but as far as weight goes, I think it fits. I lost a lot of weight last year by cutting down carbs (HbA1 now 5.9), watching portion size and walking. Over the festive season I have been snowed in (still am)...haven't walked so much and ate too...

DUK - Eating Well with T2 - DOH!!!!

I think the overwhelming reaction to reading these posts is....people with diabetes, especially type 2, are all 'lumped' together when it comes to advice from HP, dieticians etc ....they possibly have read the info from DUK and/or info on here....result is utter confusion! I know (now) what...

    Overweight and Type 2 Diabetes

Excuse my dimness (possibly) but if you are getting readings of 19 and over, I can't imagine that your hb1ac level is ok....unless you are having infrequent extreme spikes, which alone are very damaging anyway

    HbA1c

Thank you for the replies. I have had two tests done in the last four months, both 5.9...at the beginning of the year over 9! I have lost over 3st this year too and this seems to have reached a plateau too. I am on Metformin 500mg x 2, plus other drugs for BP which has been very high but coming...

    HbA1c

Hi...I have managed to get down to an Hb1 of 5.9 after a year long struggle and I was wondering what people thought I should be aiming for? My GP is very happy with 5.9, and at the moment I seem to have hit a plateau....is it reasonable to hope for lower or should I be aiming at keeping this...
