    Going on holiday

Great thank you Del, I have a frio bag that I bought when I booked the holiday so that's sorted. Did they question your carrying insulin or needles at all?

    Going on holiday

Hi, I am going to Spain at the weekend and it's my first trip since T1 diagnosis in January 2016. I think I have all my meds sorted but I wondered if I need a letter for the airport as I haven't got one! Also any tips greatly appreciated as I am struggling to keep my numbers down at the moment...

Hypo treatment - I think my friends may kill me....

I think I just struggle to understand how such a common condition still suffers this problem. To be fair @GrantGam1337 I did have some knowledge of diabetes before my diagnosis but that is probably because of friends and family that also have diabetes. I think the media both social and...

Hypo treatment - I think my friends may kill me....

Hi I see a lot of people posting about lack of knowledge and ignorance on this forum and I have always laughed it off and thought some people are so stupid, that is until recently... I have only been Type 1 since January this year and recently several of my friends have asked if they just need...

Increase in blood sugars in the late morning for no apparent reason

Hi, I have been type 1 since January this year and I have this problem of spiking mid-morning. I take 12 lantus at night and then novorapid for meal times based on carb counting using the carbs and cals app - this isn't always accurate but I'm trying to be as organised as possible! In the recent...

    Is anyone taking antidepressants?

Hi I'm on fluoxetine and they are definitely helping as I said. They take a few weeks to really start working and I'm not at full timescale yet so hopefully will feel better more in the next couple of weeks.

    Is anyone taking antidepressants?

Hi @Abby's when were you diagnosed? I was misdiagnosed in May last year as a type 2 and was "upgraded" (for want of a better phrase) in February this year as a late onset type 1 following several months of illness and very high readings. I recently started taking anti-depressants as I find it...

Late type 1 not type 2

Thanks Juicyj, I am finding it hard to be positive as I've not felt well for so long but maybe it's now psychological and I need to give myself a kick up the ****!! I'm doing gnr for cf as my friends little girl has it so I think I'll focus on that and get back out even if it's just walking to...

Late type 1 not type 2

I am reading every day so will keep going with that. I have lost almost 4 stone over the last year trying to eat right but also due to high numbers and metformin!! I struggle to eat well like lots of people and am desperately trying not to bury my head in the sand! I appreciate all your help...

Late type 1 not type 2

Thanks guys for your responses, it just seems so complicated! I don't want to get in the habit of eating what I like and adapting insulin to suit, I want to eat healthily and get back in the gym. I'm doing the great north run in sept and I haven't trained for weeks now due to generally feeling...

Late type 1 not type 2

After a few months of feeling unwell and having consistently high numbers (last hba1c 113) I have been "upgraded" to type 1 after an original type 2 diagnosis, I'm 40 years old. I started insulin on Tuesday after being given an emergency appointment. 15u lantus 8u novorapid When I read all of...

Help can't get my sugar down

Hi I have to agree with azure as your current situation mirrors mine. I was initially diagnosed type 2 but after almost 3 months of bg in the high 20's the diagnosis has changed to late onset type 1. Please speak to your gp, I have been so unwell and if you get checked now hopefully you won't...

    Sudden High Levels

Hi I was diagnosed May last year, hba1c was 60 but due to being very symptomatic I was put straight onto 2 metformin daily (changed to sr after a few weeks. Regular check in October had me down to 50. After feeling unwell early December I got checked and hba1c up to 73 and told sodium levels &...

    Blurry Eyes

Thank you for this Lucy this is a great help and comfort! My old gp gave me a meter but when I moved in the summer my new gp would give me strips on prescription. I'll get one ordered, the cost of strips has always put me off! The problem with with my eyes has caused me to take serious control...

    Blurry Eyes

Uart I don't have a testing meter, it's not practice at my gp for T2 to receive them. I'd prefer to have one.

    Blurry Eyes

Thanks Clive this is helpful. I had gone from 60 to 50 but unfortunately it's now right up. My metformin have been increased from 2 to 3 a day and I have been strict with my diet so hopefully things will improve quickly!
