Type 2 And Cirrhosis Of The Liver

I have been type 2 for about 6 years well controlled on metformin until I was put on steroids about 3 years ago. This caused my bs to go sky high and I was started on insulin. The steroids and insulin caused weight gain and even after I was weaned off steroids my bs remained high. I started to...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I don't have a particularly sweet tooth but I do like the odd piece of Cadburys chocolate ( I know it's just sugar and very little chocolate, but I'm obviously a bit of a pleb ) I tried some lindt 85% chocolate but it was really unpleasant to me, no creaminess. It was my grandsons 5th birthday...

Celebrating hitting target of 3 stone lost thanks to LCHF way of eating and forum support

My feelings exactly eggs! I've dieted on and off for the last 37 years. My birthday is in January and I was always on a diet as I always rejoined WW or SW at the beginning of January. I struggled to eat fat as it had been drummed into me for donkeys years that fat was the ultimate sin!

    MY TURN TO CELEBRATE!!

Wow! You sound exactly like I feel. It's difficult when you've spent so much of your life being told that low fat is good and high fat is the work of the devil. I tried to lose weight with SW but being on insulin and steroids made it virtually impossible. Being told that I should eat as much...

    Good and bad

I am a very keen shopper and love a bargain. Before lchf I was a size 20/22 top and 18 bottom. I am a proper apple shape. I am going on a cruise at the end of April and had bought lots of tops in a previous m&s sale. Needless to say most of them are far too big now that I'm a size 14/16.I have...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Stayed the same .13 stone 2lb. I eat breakfast (oats) around 9am then nothing til 6pm. Does this count as a 9 hour fast? Or would I be better eating something at lunchtime? I rarely feel hungry at lunch though. I rarely eat more than half of my dinner but feel hungry about 9pm

    How I lowered my A1C

I have been lchf since January this year and have lost 30 lb. I have stopped using insulin and my hba1c was 38 last month. I was having a lot of palpitations and a very fast heartbeat, I had to wear a monitor for a week and push a button every time I was having palpitations. I was told to start...

    There is Hope.

Grehlin is no longer released when a patient has a gastric bypass. It is called the hunger hormone.

    There is Hope.

I speak as someone who had a gastric band fitted in 2007 and lost about 4 stone..mostly due to the fact that I vomited after every meal. It was never really successful and is rarely done these days. I put all the weight back on and some. My friend had a gastric sleeve a couple of years ago...

    Low Carb Low Fat?

My friend had a gastric sleeve and is now seriously anaemic, she also gained the 5 stone she originally lost back. She's now on the Cambridge diet and has lost the 5 stone again but still needs to lose another 5 stone. Her sister joined her on the Cambridge diet and is now at her goal weight. I...

    Low Carb Low Fat?

I'm anaemic too. I don't know if it's due to low carbing though. I'm seeing a haematologist in may to find out the cause.

Meter and no meds vs no meter and meds

To be honest I just took the doctor at his word that it was inevitable that I would be diabetic as there are so many family members who are diabetic (my uncle died whilst in a diabetic coma) plus having one endocrine condition ( started off with graves disease ) the chances of having another...

    Low Carb Program Meet Up

I have completely stopped my insulin and so far so good. I am still taking metformin though as it doesn't cause any side effects for me. I have come down from 99.7kgs to 82.8 kgs. So I'm sticking with the lchf. That is from January this year.

Another scary conversation with the gp

Thank you so much for all your replies. My sister works at the hospital that I'm being referred to and was able to speak to the consultant I'll be seeing. He told her that I definitely don't have myeloma!!! He doesn't know what is causing the anaemia and other problems with my blood and said it...

Be honest, how -are- you doing?

I'm T2 so I don't know much about T1 but isn't there a dn or diabetes clinic where you can go for help and advice? Surely it's not good for you to only be eating 2 slices of toast and day. Sending you a hug x

Be honest, how -are- you doing?

Ummm bread. It's the thing I miss the most. It seems unfair that I can eat butter but it's the crusty fresh loaf that's missing.

    Saw my consultant today

The last time I had my blood pressure taken it was 100/60. She said that it was a bit low but didn't seem concerned about it.
