Many thanks for that, and I think age is definitely part of the issue….we just don’t work as well ! I will look at Dr Bernstein’s book. Kind regards.

Diet controlled low carb plateau ?

Well, an update, and thanks again to all. I tried the 24 hour fast and reduced my glucose by a couple of mmol’s which was great ! It has subsequently evened out at a nine and often below, so I am thinking that it did exactly as KennyA mentioned, and maybe recalibrated a little. I have also taken...

Diet controlled low carb plateau ?

Thankyou all, in many ways I think you all confirm what I felt…..food is not the issue really, except if I am stupid, which I nave not been since the upset. Perhaps my body, as you said has adapted to the higher levels because my CGM line is almost completely straight….i will try a fast and see...

Diet controlled low carb plateau ?

I wonder if anyone can help ? I eat low carb/keto and have controlled my type 2 by diet alone for 10 years. I have a glucose monitor but recently was experiencing high levels which were difficult to bring down. I had a sizable emotional upset two weeks ago and soared to 16.1. I decided to get...

    Covid 19, T2 and petrified!!

I am newly negative after 12 days. I felt rubbish for about four days then recovered, but was tired most of the time. I was very afraid of getting it and was scared when the positive happened. I am still feeling exhausted if I overdo things, and a bit of nausea which has been there since the...

    Protein bread

I buy Profusion protein bread, organic as well, and no nasties I can find off Amazon or EBay - usually in packs of 5 and then I freeze four and defrost as needed. I pay £14.59 for five. Bit pricey but I really like it and it does toast, though obviously not like normal bread !

I buy this all the time, either from Amazon or ASDA. I love it and find a slice of it very satisfying. Highly recommend it !

Anybody know of low carb meal replacement bars?

I have taken to having the occasional Protein bar from Natures Way - mainstream supermarket bars, and 9.4 per bar. Tasty too and a nice treat.

I did a batch this morning and it keeps well in...

I’m sure everyone is different, but it seems as if it might be a reason for raised levels. Thank you all for your input.

Hot weather and higher numbers !?

Dear All, Just an observation. I have had readings of around 1 to 1.5 mmols during this very hot weather. I was also in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur in March and April and my readings were quite a bit higher than usual with no real change of a strict low carb diet. It also seems to take longer...
