    why bother

Denial is great isn't it, then comes the anger why me what have I done to get this, oh its only diabetes who the hell cares. Add to that the propaganda the gov push that all type 2 are lazy, fat unwilling to help themselves, its a lifestyle choice they made attitude doesn't help. Unfortunately...

Does this make you feel very unwell?

When I first went onto Metformin the normal NOT the SR I felt ok then when increased to 3 x 500g tabs a day I felt really bad, headaches, sick, totally off food (that bit was ok  ) but after a week I couldn't handle it so I asked about the SR version and have never looked back. So go back...

In denial of my type 2 diabetes

If you have a meter and test strips take a bg before you eat then 2hrs after you eat if you spike then you will either have to cut out or at least cut down on that particular type of food. Myself can't eat white bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, oats, cream crackers, but I believe a lot of us are...

Dr Phillip Lee MP - Try Engaging Brain

To me this shows how egotistical and self serving idiots MPs are. As pointed out by many people not all diabetics are fat, and not all fat people are diabetics. If we asked MPs to pay for their 2nd homes, cut their expenses to a normal persons i.e. we pay for our own car, petrol, cabs, toilet...

Me I was suspected of being diabetic on my 52nd birthday then after all the tests 2nd Dec 2009 at 11:03 am strange how it sticks in the mind. I was having liver and kidney issues at the time so with all the testing full diagnose took a wee bit of time. I remember the conversation well 11:00...

    Hyper or Hypo

No I indeed did not wash my hands  for the first did for the second and 3rd, normally I get shakey when bg drops to 4.3ish so to see me having full blown hypo symptom attack at 11.5 was alarming and I didn't realise that you could get a hyper that was so similar to hypo  I thought...

My things seem to be out of your control, I didn't realise the bleeding from the bowels was out of control diabetes I have that a lot and I keep mine fairly well controlled. You need to get the GP to take you seriously and make him see how it is affecting your way of life I know easier said...

Whats the point is it worth it (Diabetes reviews)

I have a review in 2weeks time I'm type 2nd control my diabetes with diet + execise. Doctors won't give me test strips on prec because I don't need them nurse agrees with him so I ended up buying my own like most people on this forum. My last HbA1c (6 months ago) I got down to 5.6 very happy...

    fasting

Fasting gives a good indication of your bg control and because of this it is seen as a controlled test. Hba1c show your glucose level for the last 8 to 12 weeks. The reason this is done is because it is far more reliable than the standard fasting test which can vary day to day with the Hba1c...

    Menus.

You may also find a small snack and I mean small may help your blood sugars maintain a steady rate during the night. Me I have 1 slice of linseed and pumpkin bread or even low GI bread so I usually go to bed with a bg of around 7 and get up with a bg around 6.5 :D

    Over reacting maybe

I have only been diagnosed since 2nd Dec 2009 I even know the time. At the time my appointment with the DSN went something like "come in, sit down" followed the instructions I was then told "Well I can confirm you are diabetic how do you feel about that?" After I took a deep breath I told her...
