Considering asking my GP for some insulin

Thanks for you replies, I can see that it looks like the best option is just to stick with the met for now. I asked mainly about met in that thread and to be honest while I don;t agree on the why the doc put me on them I am glad I have them.

Considering asking my GP for some insulin

Hi I have not spoken to my GP as of yet. I was floating the idea first. Mainly I'd like to be able to lower my BG when I get high readings for what ever reason. I have had 2 or 3 over 10 2 hour PP readings and thats when, IMHO, I could do with them

Considering asking my GP for some insulin

Right I'm looking for a sanity check - and to be honest I trust the people here more than I do my GP. My thought about this whole thing is that I should use all the controls possible that I can to keep my BG in normal ranges, and as long as I do with eyes wide open there should be no problems...

Weight loss and the immune system

I think its worth remembering that muscle also weighs more than fat so just because you are not loosing weight does not mean that you are not loosing fat. Sometimes (myself included) people get caught up in the whole "I must loose weight" mentality, but what relly counts IMHO is the loss of your...

Is it worth going on meds?

Forgive me if I am wrong but taking the load off the beta cells can premote "recovery" or at least slow the death of the cells so if you take the load off short term and manage the insulin to the point you are still loosing wieght then would it not benifit you long term?

The longstanding issue of testing and NHS

I honestly can't understand the NHS either - learning what foods effect you (and therefore removing them) will only lower the chances of complications long term and probably save money. If they gave people these tools and the knowledge to use them then this will only help long term

Is it worth going on meds?

Well personally (and I'm still new to this) I think newly diag T2 who are overwieght for the most part should be given insulin straight off along with all the diet help. If IR is a problem and loosing weight helps then we should protect those beta cells while we lower it
