How Many Hypo's Is Too Many?

Hi Circuspony, I find that my BSL can drop really really quickly when I am doing something I really enjoy, even if it is with little physical exercise. This might apply to your feeding your horses - it is an enjoyable time for you despite the manure! I'm not sure if I just become more relaxed...

Could these symptoms be related to any other drugs or medications that you use (such as Insulin or Metformin)?

Type 2 How do you thicken stews please?

If you can get some Okra (usually in an asian vegetable shop), add this to any casserole or stir fry - it's a great thickener. I only use 2-3 small ones in any sort of cooking as it can be a bit too effective. Wash it, chop it up seeds and all and it doesn't affect the taste. It feels somewhat...

    Plant Paradox method of eating

Hi, I have had type 1 for almost 44 years, and for the last 9-10 years have had lots of dietry issues. I have been diagnosed with fructose intolerance, but lots of foods seem to upset my digestion. Two years ago I did a DAFNE Course here in Australia. I have read and tried Dr. Bernstein's...

    Insulin Practices?

There are sites on the internet that you can calculate (roughly) you daily required dose of insulin by body weight. However in saying this it also depends on if you are sensitive to insulin or insulin resistant as this will vary the amount that you need. Unfortunately this comes with trial and...

    Neuropathy

Has anyone had a Nerve Decompression operation done for Neuropathy of their feet? I have been looking for information on what seems to be a controversial treatment. I can find a bit about it in USA, where it can be called Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, an operation can be called Nerve Release or...

First hypo & I think I’ve really messed up.

This can also happen after alcohol the night before. I have always had a problem with overnight hypos, sometimes I wake up sweaty but sometimes just half wake and fell like i'm dozing...I keep jelly beans and sultanas and a honeycomb chocolate bar next to my bed. If I use any during the night...

    peripheral neuropathy and ulcers

I was doing some reading the other day and came across some stuff regarding peripheral neuropathy and also leg and foot ulcers. Apparently there are operations done for foot problems that are similar to carpal tunnel operations for the hand. One is called Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome which is an...

    Insulin Allergy

I had lots of issues when changing from the old insulins to the 'human insulins'. I didn't feel well, had skin rahes, lumps and could not detect hypo's. I ran my sugars high to avoid hypos. It has taken me years to be able to get back onto a porcine isophane that I have to self fund. I am in...

My district manager pulled me into the office and gave me a hard time about my condition. Advice?

If you can afford to try it - try a Libre. It has helped me enormously. It just gives me an idea of where my sugar is heading, which makes it a little bit easier to eat in time, and I scan when ever I wake during the night. Best of luck,

I have had trouble with my digestion and bowels for a number of years, and it seems to be getting worse despite modifying my diet a great deal. I also often feel like I have something stuck in my throat. I have had random testing such as thyroid, celiacs, breath testing and...

Anyone here with Multiple Auto-immune diseases?

Is there any other type 1's out there that have been diagnosed with 'Multiple Auto Immune Diseases'? How did you get diagnosed? What sort of Medical Practitioner did you consult? I feel that I may be have a few different issues going on after 42 years of being type 1, but everything gets blamed...

Fastest Things To Counter A Hypo

I am type 1 for 42 years, and I learned early on that I can become quite combative when anyone tries to get me to eat if they notice me going low. The best thing to do is to find some quick acting foods that you LOVE, but only keep for hypos, and always have something with you or in the...

    Never had a hypo...

I have had T1 for over 40 years, and have had many, many hypos in that time. I have found that each time my insulin type changes, my hypo symptoms change too, and it all needs to be relearnt. My biggest problem has probably been over compensating for a hypo, and over eating. With recent changes...
