    Test Strip Swap Shop

Ones I have are purchased, and I do have a meter. I have several different brands of meter, but i like the Contour One, its a nice slick design, and it bluetooths to my phone, and gives me a nice visual log right there in my hand. I'd much rather be using that as my daily meter, than any...

    Test Strip Swap Shop

Is there anyway or anywhere that can swap test strips?? Reason I ask, is I have an abundance of True You testing strips, but recently received a Contour One blood tester, I can't get the strips on prescription here, and you all know how pricey they can be. So I was wondering is there anywhere...

    My 2nd HbA1c results email

"Hello Liam , I have discussed your blood test results today with Dr .......... and he is pleased but slightly puzzled at the dramatic improvement in your HbA1c at 52mmol/mol with being off medication and he has suggested that in 3 months we recheck your HbA1c but also do a repeat FASTING...

Type 2 Does it "Really" matter if you spike high, then level after an hour?

as the title suggests, if you eat or drink and spike higher than the recommended levels, but within an hour after the spike come back down to normality (in my case between 9 and 10 and back down to below 6) not every day but on the odd occasion, if every other day is good db management? I...

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

I had a pretty big take away tonight, lots of breaded chicken, a massive hot dog (I only ate half the bun), pulled pork, black pudding and bottle of ginger beer, 5.8 just before i started eating, about 3 hours later I was at 5.9, i forgot to take a good post food reading, but happy enough my...

    When have you eaten today?

My eating habits are never routine... Up every morning, never really freel like breakfast, then usually at work for about 11am, then on my feet until 9/10pm... not very often I get time for a sit down or proper meal, just graze at work... when I get home though 11ish at night I sit chill and get...

Frowned at by Nurse when I mentioned LCHF

My understanding with the HF part of LCHF , was the fat was to be used as energy by your body in the absence of carbs.. And the low carb is what is lowering blood sugars... Sent from my SM-G925F using Diabetes.co.uk Forum mobile app

Ready to take control after 3 1/2 years with Type 2

i use "Blood Glucose Tracker" on android just now, its handy for glucose readings, weight, meds etc, but it isn't handy for diet (ie carb counting food etc) It provides a quick way to input readings as you get them, and a nice wee graph so you can see how you're doing...

    New meds made drastic change

just be careful with your glicazide, I was on Glipizide and took a Hypo... The nurse told me if my readings were below 9 then i should avoid taking it. Now on a semi strict LCHF diet i no longer need it, although i'm still on the metformin for now. I wouldnt worry too much about your morning...

Frowned at by Nurse when I mentioned LCHF

After reading articles and watching videos by other professionals as well as testimonials from people in this forum and others, I do feel some of the info I have been given is outdated. Especially where diet is concerned. And I was told to keep on my meds which resulted in a hypo. Also when I...

Vodka + Full Fat Coke = Normal BS

I just wanted to state especially for @Galja , A lot of what I say will nearly always carry a humorous or sarcastic undertone. Ultimately I was perplexed as to how my levels didn't spike. I know that the "lad" lifestyle over the years has done (medically) no favours for me, and believe me...

Vodka + Full Fat Coke = Normal BS

I agree, i do look at my diabetes as my body giving me a subtle sign, and to be honest this is my only vice that i'm finding hard to curve... I don't drink at home, i don't drink during the week, but the habit of a friday night and the weekend is pretty much encoded into my dna now!.... I work...

Vodka + Full Fat Coke = Normal BS

ok friday night, I started after work at about 9pm, got home at about 00.30 and tested at about 1am where I was 6.1 . Following morning my wake up BS was 6.7.... As I said I used to see a noticeable spike, albeit not a huge one, but now nothing... I will need to maybe do some more testing into...

Vodka + Full Fat Coke = Normal BS

First off this is NOT an exact equation, but for me I feel this is strange.... From my teen days, i've always been a bit of a "lad" and for many years my drink has always been Double Vodka Cokes. Anyone that knows me, knows this is my drink!!... This has been the hardest habit of mine to...

Frowned at by Nurse when I mentioned LCHF

So just a little update as I was at the Dr's yesterday; I have been logging my bs levels and showed the Doc, I still have spikes every now and again (i'm finding it hard to let go of full fat coke in my vodkas) but never go above 10, and they are usually back below 7 within a couple of hours...

    'Only' on metformin!

Its silly, you see what the health board will prescribe to the bottom feeders of the world but won't provide the tools for genuine people with undeniable genuine health problems to monitor their situation and also better understand their bodies. I was the same. After being on glipizide and...
