    Not sure what happened!

I have been a naughty boy! In July last year (2018) my doctor TRIED to put me on Metformin. I got the first lot but never took them. Instead I started looking more closley at my diet and excercise. Over time both my diet and excercise slipped. Weight has gone down and back up. At a recent...

New diagnosee, type 2, 39 years old

Hi Andy. Comes as a shock doesn't it. It did with me when diagnosed in 2016. I started well controlling it with diet but soon slipped on to my old ways of bread crisps and chips. 8 weeks ago weighing 109 kgs I was diagnosed with a prostate problem and them got a bout of gastroenteritis. 6 weeks...

Fasting Glucose Higher Than You Expect On A Low Carb Or Ketogenic Diet?

Got my Codefree meter Wednesday so just been doing fairly random testing. One thing I have noticed very quickly is that for the first test when I get up has been 9.1 & 7.8 but tests at about 4pm were 6.2 & 5.8 (both about 2 hours after eating). Other posts seem to suggest lower readings in the...

    Nhs Heart Age

It is misleading. How many will be misled and flood the GP's with unnecessary appointments. Therefore putting even more stress on an already struggling NHS. I heard a bang when I did mine (92 year old heart in a 57 year old body). Think it was was the NHS shooting themselves in the foot!

    To test or not

Thanks Liam will check that out. Been really keen on reducing the carbs (which has been my downfall before ) and making a concerted effort to walk each day work as a minimum. Down 3kg in 2 weeks the tester is just another tool for me to ensure as a minimum the BG stays where it is or falls

Doctor Wants Me To Continue Medication

I have been lazy with my diet and last week my doc put me on metformin. Now the strange thing is I went to see him for my blood results for a different issue and had already booked an appointment with the diabetic nurse immediately after the doc. She said she wouldn't have put me on meds. I have...

    Newly Diagnosed Type 2

Thanks for that sound advice. I have already been looking at, and trying cutting carbs and raising fat in take (hence the increase in CV excercise) with a view to tell them that is the way I am going (lchf). I will of course listen to the arguments but at the end of the day they will not be...

    Newly Diagnosed Type 2

Hi Stuart. I was diagnosed just over a month ago but not got my 1st proper appointment with the diabetic nurse for another 2 weeks. Get to go for my first eye screening week today. I have tried cutting down on carbs with varying success. My biggest success is reducing portion size and...

    To test or not

With being diagnosed type 2 just a week ago and the diabetic nurse not going a bundle on a meter ive been looking on here and until about half a hour ago I was swinging towards not testing. The advice i have been given is to reduce sugars and portion size and of course exercise. This afternoon...

Newly diagnosed but feeling good about it.

Morning. I was diagnosed yesterday with T2 but strangly feel positive about it. It is perhaps the kick in the pants that i needed to bring the reality that if I dont sort my health, weight and fitness out my time seeing my grandkids could be limited. I was expecting this diagnosis and so have...
