Are others having their regular review cancelled?

So I'm overdue by about a month for my 6-monthly review with a practice nurse. I hadn't bothered ringing till now because of the blood bottle shortage last month. At my last review I was put on gliclazide so no point having a review if we can't see if the new meds are having any effect. At the...

    Diane Abbott & Diabetes Publicity

So having seen that Diane Abbott was withdrawing from campaigning because of a long-term condition I did wonder about T2. Now it's confirmed and I'm pleased she's been so open about it. Regardless of your political allegiances it has to be a good thing that diabetes and T2 in particular is in...

Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

The forum didn't like my photo! Said it was too big. I'll give it another go. Last night's salad, followed by this morning's seed porridge. It was really good! The original recipe had salt, but I was always a masses of golden syrup gal, so I added a tsp of raw cacao powder, and with the few...

Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

Horribly high sugar level after work today. I think I've started becoming too reliant on wheat again, and I obviously cannot cope with it at all. I'd had a Lidl roll with peri peri hummus for breakfast, but then for lunch tried a few of the new carrot, turmeric & chia mini breadsticks at work...

Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

Brunch - 2 LM sausages and onions on a Lidl roll Dinner - 2 Taifun tofu grill sausages with stir fried onions, cabbage and shoyu. A bit sausage heavy! But a pretty good day. Only snack was some cheese, which was pretty good considering we were out beachcombing and the OH had to stop at a shop...

Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

Hi all :) Just catching up. Been awol for a while! Chuckling at the courgettes and aubergines saga. Bizzarely enough here in darkest Northumberland we've had plenty of both, but on a couple of supermarket visits not a single tomato for sale! I've been really struggling with low carbing...

Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

I've had a bit of a disastrous few weeks. We had to have Nika dog put to sleep, and I think with the stress of it all and the exhaustion of being up all night with her for the last few days I got very run down. Cue a really nasty cold which just knocked me for six. I was so poorly that I...

Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

I'm still on my 101 ways to eat courgettes mission! So today was B : 1 slice weightwatchers bread with granovita spicy tofu pate. I bought this bread because the Bergen was sold out. The slices are beyond thin and full of air, and if you toast them they're burnt in a flash, but it's kind of...

Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

It's really annoying that I planted so much of the garden with spuds just before I was diagnosed. Now with the boys off at uni, and OH wanting to eat what I do (probably he just doesn't want to cook for himself!) they're just going to waste. Next year I will be planning the veg garden...

    Negativity :(

So I had the appointment this morning. After the two diagnosis readings of 95 and 96 I was hoping for 70s, and would have been over the moon with 60s. My actual result .... 49 !!!! I cannot tell you how over the moon I am, to almost halve my Hba1c in just three months. And despite all that...

    Is this safe?

Are you type 2 @bookcook ? No science behind this, just my personal opinion, but I find spreading out carbs in multiple meals a day to work better for me in terms of keeping my readings stable. But having said that, in four months of testing, the lowest ever readings have been when I've been...

Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

B : Didn't have any again! Hubby put a slice of Bergen in the toaster but I was too preoccupied with vets appointment. L; Raw cacao coyo yogurt. I'm working my way through all the flavours at work. I found this one too sweet. Natural and vanilla are much better and lower carb. D : Courgette...

Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

I've had a bit of a disastrous day. B : fat bomb L : nothing D : Linda Mcartney rosemary sausages, gravy, runner beans and a few mashed potatoes from the garden And because I spent most of the day either at the vets, or worrying over Nika my dog, I ended up so hungry that I snacked on Pringles...

    Negativity :(

Thank you so much everyone for your positive comments :) I think the nurse had better tread carefully on Tuesday, because I am really not in the mood for negativity right now. My youngest son is under investigation for a rare genetic liver disorder and my eldest dog looks like she's out of her...

Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

I love hummus and don't make it myself anywhere near as often as I should! I love bean dips too ... red kidney bean and garlic is probably my fave. Beans are so difficult when you're low carbing though :( I need to do more with edmame beans. The tinned ones have less than 5g per 100 of...

    My 2nd HbA1c results email

That's a fantastic result! Well done Liam. I think B's spot on there. They don't expect patients to claim they'll change diet and lifestyle and actually do it! I don't think some of the medical profession like being shown that medication isn't always the answer either!

Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

And just to stick my oar in re non-veggie mentions on this thread, even thought I'm a relative newbie on it ... If non veggies / vegans are reading, picking up ideas on the thread, and commenting on the recipes, photos etc then that's great. An active, vibrant thread is definitely a good...
