A weekend off type-1, now worse than ever!

I had the same experience a few days ago. Im type 1 on 4-6 injections a day of Novorapid and Lantus. Sometimes I think my pancreas makes some of its own insulin and keeps you going randomly then it fails and you go back to hay wire sugars again! Look at my picture lol. Weird eh? Cx

    Diabetes/digestion probs

I notice that when my sugar goes high to any degree I end up with awful stomach cramps and the runs (sorry). Happens every time! Doctor gave me Omeprazole 3 years ago and it does diddly. Omeprazole is mainly for acid reflux in the stomach and oesophagus and doesn't do much to help inside the...

    The new Mendor Discreet Meter

FYI I just worked out how to increase the strength of the finger pricker. Just remove it from the meter and twist (bit like a bottle top) right for stronger and left for weak. Hope this helps for a few who had issues with the finger pricker. :) Ying x Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    The new Mendor Discreet Meter

Paul uninstall Winrar as you say its a rip off. Windows 7 has a built in Extract all in the menus! When you get the zipped file just double click and it will just open for you. I tend to copy the open folder to the desktop and look for the files i named and open them. Hope this helps! Sent...

    The new Mendor Discreet Meter

Ok. Just installed the new Mendor Balance software. Was pretty straight forward. You go to the website and click log in. When it connects you register where it will send you a verification email which you open and verify your email. Click to install the software and login, add more details and...

    The new Mendor Discreet Meter

Mcvicker35, the test strips are now available on the NHS (in Northern Ireland with no problems anyway). None of your doctors practices should refuse as you NEED the strips! It's just that the doctors dont like the expense but tough luck, insist on them! They have to provide them. I have to say...

    The new Mendor Discreet Meter

NB: About the high readings. I did hear (or rather read) about that problem elsewhere. To be honest my current meter can be a bit hit and miss despite the weekly calibration so any more info on that would be good since I dont have anything to compare the Mendor readings to just now! Thanks.

    The new Mendor Discreet Meter

So quite a few differing views on the meter then! lol I have to say the only thing that majorly bugs me is the lack of strength behind the finger pricker. Could be a bit stronger. I like the size but I did have trouble getting the bottom cover off like Pav said. The revolving strip sounds like a...

    The new Mendor Discreet Meter

I recieved one in the post last week and have to say I am pretty impressed with it. The only set back is that the strips aren't available on prescription on the UK NHS so currently you have to spend £30 for 50 strips which is a bit pricey! Otherwise, a fab wee meter. Any one else have any...

    SO ANGRY!!!!!

I once got told by a non diabetic that i use my diabetes as an excuse to stay fat. I am fat but i was a normal 13 year old when i was diagnosed. Face it. Some people are just as thick as mince! But good on you for replying to that non- entity. Unfortunately people get brave on a keyboard. lol...

    feeling fed up

I get fed up most of the time! Diabetes just has this knack of kicking you in the backside just as you think you're getting a handle on it! And don't get me started on inappropriate hypos and hypers that make you feel hungover without the enjoyment of getting drunk first! Sometimes diving...

    The beginning of nerve pain?

Spats, I'm on 40 mg of Simvastatin a day. I get my feet checked every 6 months and they are always absolutely fine. Im still taking the Aspirin 300 mg once a day and it seems to help a lot. I have got an appointment for next week for the doctor so I will see what he says too. Thanks! Klang, I...

    The beginning of nerve pain?

Well it's been a couple of days but I've still got the pain in my hands and arms but it seems to hurt more when I move and I feel a bit stiff too...! I am definitely going to work on getting the blood sugars on tighter control but think I will go see the doctor too just to see if he can help...

    The beginning of nerve pain?

Hi there Can anyone tell me what neuropathy pain feels like? I've been a type one for 18 years and had no problems other than battling with my weight and my hba1c! Just recently, in the last 12 months or so, I've noticed I get pains in my legs (mostly at night) which feels like a trapped nerve...
