Problems at work due to time off

Just to add to what AndBreathe has written: You may want to ask your surgery's practice manager for access to your notes for the last 12-18 months. When you get them, make a copy. Make a copy of everything. You may well end up needing to send paper copies off the all sorts of people. What I...

Problems at work due to time off

I don't understand what your union rep means by "they can't take this into consideration" - and though they have to treat everyone fairly, they don't have to treat everyone the same. This is partly where the disability legislation comes in. I would suggest that you ask your rep if they have any...

    Tattoo yes or no ?

I swear by Zinc - always found that it helped reduce the severity of a cold IF taken earlier enough (as soon as the first tickle in the nose starts) and IF taken in suitable doses. Dose needs to be large enough to make a difference, but small enough to avoid the nausea of too much zinc. You find...

Might be losing my job after a visit from Occ. Health

Write up your account of the meetings you have had with your OH advisor and with your management. Go into as much detail as you can - naming names - so that you have a record of what was said. This could be useful for any later legal action. Do it NOW before your memory of the details starts to...

    Is marijuana good for diabetes?

I haven't heard that Marijuana itself contains either nicotine or caffeine, though clearly when it is smoked mixed with tobacco, there will be nicotine present. As for caffeine, the effects of marijuana do not seem to be consistent with high caffeine doses. Even if it did, are you saying that...

    Is marijuana good for diabetes?

Given the problems caused by obesity, it's astonishing that sweets aren't banned - and that's before you start in on diabetes. I have MS as well as diabetes and ME as well. Something that helped with the pain and the sleep problems and the twitching - well, that would be really nice...

    Study on grilled/fried food

When DH has a problem with his computer, he starts grumbling, "Back to the quill pen!" This sort of info brings on a similar reaction in me - I start saying, "Organic steamed broccoli and tap water!" It's a litany for what's "safe" and "environmentally sound." And if anyone tries to tell me...

not sure whether I should be offended or not

There's another aspect to this which hasn't been raised. Suppose the lecturer knew you were diabetic, but still gave you a sweet. Now technically you are (I assume) an adult BUT if anything had gone wrong with your bg levels, then some people would have sued the college because you were given...

    Horrible GP, please advise!

I had a horrible GP, who habitually sneered at my M.E. and I put up with him for years. I even sat there with what turned out to be shingles, not going to a doctor because I thought he'd just sneer at me for taking up his time with "spots". If I'd left it another 24 hours I think I might have...

    CHOLESTEROL and RELATED ISSUES

Here's an item from the BBC news site, I can't remember whether this forum permits links, so I will just say that this report was on the BBC news website 21 Feb 2011, in their health section. Try using the BBC search with "Cholesterol" and picking it from the search list. What this means for...

STATIN USERS - QUESTIONS and ANSWERS

Re: Cholesterol Level The thing about your liver was news to me - I'll check that one out. So yes, that helps. Thanks.

STATIN USERS - QUESTIONS and ANSWERS

Re: statins About the Simvastatin - snap. Serious muscle pains - shoulder down to fingers. Took myself off them, because the pain was getting worse. I was supposed to report this to my GP, but the first fortnight I was more or less OK, Christmas Eve not so good, Christmas Day manageable but...

    Survey problems

I still think that "not at all" seems relevant to those who don't test - the "less than once a day" seems close to "a few times a week." Now it's possible that those who are diabetes-savvy know that people don't do it that way, but I'm new to this game (though not to questionnaires!) and wanted...

No, but I am in favour of proportional representation.

    Survey problems

Thanks, I really couldn't see where else to go - all the "want to get in touch" stuff seemed to lead to the forum.

    Survey problems

@ Site Controllers This is about the Diabetes Survey which your email wanted me to contribute to. If this is the wrong place, I apologise but on looking at the (over-busy) home page I didn't find anywhere else to write this. If it should go elsewhere, please would someone give me an address...

    Am i diabetic? Please help?

Thanks for list. Unfortunately only one of those (blurred vision) is much of a help (and even then it could be that I've forgotten to change my specs  - smiley looks like wrong specs!). All the others could easily be one of the other medical problems of longer standing - especially the...

    Am i diabetic? Please help?

How? Genuine question since I'm new to all this and trying to sort out one set of symptoms from other sets.

    Hungry for life?

Since I wrote the first post I have seen my GP who confirms it as diabetes, "though we have caught it early". I have changed my profile so it doesn't show Type 1 - I'm afraid that was just left on all the default settings. I'll edit it more some other time.
