I’m the only one left now, but we knew that we had the BRCA gene plus another very rare one that both my parents had which resulted in my brother being seriously disabled so I wouldn’t be surprised if we all had something else! I will ask about it next time I see her.

    Rising numbers and GP appointment

I am about to have my first face to face GP appointment this afternoon. We moved in May 20 lockdown prevented seeing a doctor or nurse practitioner. All my prescription repeats were down on line. I had a call from a practitioner early on telling me I had too much medication on repeat. I’m deaf...

    Duloxetine

Been on duloxetine for three years to stop stabbing diabetic neuropathy pains. It works fine and my control was good until recently but not the fault of duloxetine. However the supply of duloxetine to chemists can be erratic. 2 years ago my chemist couldn’t get any at all resulting in me not...

    Struggling

I too am struggling, moving house and GP last May and I still haven’t seen a GP. My last HbA1c done by new surgery in December was 58 which I was told was satisfactory. Since then I have tried to get an actual physical appointment with a GP. I did have one telephone but I’m deaf so that didn’t...

Newly diagnosed type 2 and very confused.

Hi Before you purchase a meter check with your GP as sometimes they will loan you one. Also they should prescribe lancets testing strips and sharps bin. The ease of getting these being prescribed will vary from GP and Health authority. When I moved last May I was told very firmly by practice...

Anyone here recover from burning feet and/or hands?

Four years of stabbing burning soles of feet random stabs everywhere else. Duloxetine has helped dampen them but now finding both feet feel as if covered in burning concrete. Finding it very difficult to move or walk, about to try and see new GP about this and a couple of other diabetes bits...

What are people thinking about a second lockdown?

I haven’t really come out of lockdown yet except for a visit to our favourite bistro a few times as we know they are extra conscious and have been excellent throughout lockdown. I’ve had a few walks but not gone anywhere else. We are however in a coastal resort and Some residents worry about the...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Slim Lizzy I’m very loath to go out still, my letter from the GP I haven’t met or spoken to (we moved in May) told me that although I could go out and shop he would rather I stayed in my household bubble at home. As the town is heaving with holiday visitors and day trippers I don’t want to go...

    Appointments during Covid-19

It’s all very different for everyone know. My eye consultant wrote in April today that despite his last letter saying I needed to see him every two years re glaucoma and cupped discs mainly to stop opticians referring me when I have my eyes tested, he had now decided to take me off his list and...
