    Basal Test

Have had a read through - that's very helpful, thank you! Definitely feel more confident to give it a go now :)

    Basal Test

I wouldn't say my control is horrendous (last hba1c was 56/57 I think) but it's always good to try and improve. Oh yes can definitely agree that you get the days chucked in where you feel like pulling your hair out haha! x

    Basal Test

Thanks for the recommendation. I've just requested to join the group so will take a look at the files when my request gets approved. Does sound like it might be a bit of a long process but it'll be worth it if I can control my sugars better :)

    Basal Test

Hi everyone Haven't posted anything on here in a long time but after some advice please! Can anyone give me some info on basal testing please? I'd like to gain better control of my sugars and thought it'd be good to start with a basal test but just wanted a good understanding of what it entails...

Avoiding Air Bubbles In Insulin Pens?

When I was diagnosed, I was told to roll the insulin pen between both hands to get rid of any air bubbles. It works most of the time, but to be honest I don't always check for bubbles these days! I suppose that's what happens when you've been diabetic for 11 years... :)

    I really want a baby!

Congratulations @wannabemammy! Must've been a bit of a shock to have him early but at least you are both in the best place and being looked after. What is he called, if you don't mind me asking? Best of luck to you :) <3 x

    Type 2 Stress?

First of all, well done on everything you have done so far! It sounds like you are controlling your diabetes really well :) Secondly, yes stress can increase your blood sugars. I've had occasions when this has happened too. I'm so sorry to hear you've got a lot to deal with at the moment - this...

    I really want a baby!

@hboyt Thank you :) I know it's not perfect but I'm hoping it'll improve if I keep working at it. I've recently bought the 'Think Like A Pancreas' book as so many people have said it helped them, so I'm hoping it helps me improve my blood sugars too! Well done on getting down to 47, that's...

    DKA!???

Hi @Elise Broenlund Just wanted to quickly say that I use a NovoRapid half unit pen and it's great so would recommend trying to get one of those if you can. Basically you'll get given cartridges of NovoRapid which you insert into a re-usable insulin pen. Once the cartridge is empty you just pop...

    coping will it get better?

Hi @Natt Diabetes is a lot to take on-board when first diagnosed so I can understand why you are feeling the way you do. There are lots of stories/articles online about the complications, but please don't go worrying yourself about these too much - easier said than done I know. As long as your...

    Type 2 hi mmol

Hi @tonymajor68 Those levels are a bit high so I would recommend getting in touch with your diabetes consultant to arrange a chat about how you can reduce them. It would also be a good idea to book a blood test so you can see what your current hba1c is. Melissa

    I really want a baby!

Hi @wannabemammy Aww thanks, you're so kind! :) This forum has definitely helped, I love it! Ooh it didn't take you too long to fall pregnant then. I keep worrying it's going to takes ages but I know it can take a while for some and I've just got to be grateful :) Hopefully all will be okay...

Type 1 Type 1 treatment in UK?

Hi @NiamhT1 Obviously you'll have to register with a GP asap once you're over here and you'll need to ask them about the medical exemption card. I can't remember exactly what happens, but I'm pretty sure they just have to sign a form to confirm you are diabetic and then once that's sorted...

    I really want a baby!

Hi @wannabemammy Thank you! I was really pleased too. I know the hba1c result isn't perfect but I'm trying my best to bring it down more. How are things going for you? x

    Frustrated.

Hi @Steveoutdoors If you are struggling to get control (I know how hard it is, my readings aren't perfect but I'm trying) I would advise going on a carbohydrate counting course. I went on a course a couple years ago and it really does help. That might be a good place to start for you :) Melissa

    Am I worrying over nothing.....

Hi @hca 1) If your results are in the normal range then that's great whether the GP says you were diabetic or not 2) I know it's a worry for your sugars to increase, but I would imagine if you are on the LCHF diet and you've been taking Metoformin that your sugars will have decreased since...
