Starting off with the Dexcom G5

Wow, thanks for posting that up! Can clearly see where there's a big difference. How long have you been using Dexcom for? Also, there was mention about getting the batteries replaced in the transmitters. How & with who please?

Starting off with the Dexcom G5

Absolutely! I will just keep this current sensor in until it starts to look wayward. I keep to a really low carb diet & notice the results are even when not eating (no real bolus on board) , but I notice things start to change more when eating, like a bigger difference in the results on the G5...

Starting off with the Dexcom G5

Thanks all for the reply. Just as a quick snapshot, I'm currently on Day 10 of the sensor. Here's a screenshot. Still running well? I take it if the sensor was failing at this point then the graph would be all over the place?

Starting off with the Dexcom G5

Hi Tim Thank you for the reply & for addressing all of my questions. 1) Ok, so with regards to calibrations, are we talking here the customary 2 calibrations per day, 12 hours apart? Does it matter a great deal if you don't always get these exactly on the 12 hour mark? Also, what's your usual...

Starting off with the Dexcom G5

Hi Guys Right ok, so let me begin by saying after tons of research into CGM's, I decided to plump for the Dexcom G5 & am currently on Day 9. I have a series of questions that I wanted to ask the experienced Dexcom pros out there as follows: 1) Cost, is a massive bug bear with the G5. On that...

    Accu Chek Insight Pump

It's a shame some sort of future software update couldn't be made available to fix sluggishness on the meter but then again, no internet connection or port to connect doesn't appear likely that that will ever happen.

    Accu Chek Insight Pump

Interesting to hear that the handset on the Insight is slow compared to the Combo. That's certainly not progress! What are the benefits / improvements of the Insight pump over the Spirit Combo? I've heard that the Insight comes with pre filled cartridges now and a battery battery sealed...

    Accu Chek Insight Pump

After 4 years of being on the Accu Chek Spirit Combo Pump, I am due to be upgraded to the new Insight pump. Would like to know from people who are on the Insight pump, how they are finding it, etc and also the same for people like myself coming from the Spirit Combo, what to expect, etc. Many...

    What's going on?

Thank you for sharing. My basal during the night seems spot on for what I have at present. It doesn't seem to move. The problem arises once I get up even with the pump connected. Blood sugar rises quickly. Could it be to do with stress / anxiety? Just want to put it right. Same for exercise too.

    What's going on?

I hope so as I still can't crack it and it really gets me down.

    What's going on?

Hi all. Pump user for 4 years and I still don't get what's going on with the following: If I don't do any exercise, have a low stressful day, everything stays in check with my levels and I get consistently good readings. So therefore my bolus and basal doses are fine. However that is not...

    Pump dilemma

Good points raised there Alan & yes a lot of my frustration is emotionally charged as a direct reaction but I will reign it in for my letter as one of my key decisions for moving over to the pump in the first place was based on the understanding that once a pumps 4 year warranty had expired it...

    Pump dilemma

Unfortunately when my pump decided to break down completely it was the day I moved house so at the time locating insulin pen injections proved to be impossible. That then took me to Northampton hospital where they had no measures in place whatsoever to provide me with a new pen injection as the...

    Pump dilemma

Hi Guys. Well to cut a long story short, I first went on the Accu-Chek combo in 2011. I love the pump and was told that in 4 years time I would get an upgrade to whatever new pump is on the market. That happens to be the new Accu-Chek Insight. They have been writing and emailing for a little...

    Type 1 Diabetes & fertility

Thank you for the replies so far guys, really encouraging. Do you think I should still go & get myself checked out for sperm count, or don't let it worry or concern me at this stage? I haven't had the best control of my diabetes over the years, but since i went on the pump in the last 18...

    Type 1 Diabetes & fertility

Hi all I have been a Type 1 Diabetic man since I was 14 (I'm now 30) & I've been recently thinking about the prospect of children with my girlfriend & I just wanted to know if having diabetes plays a significant part in reducing a man's fertility? I have thought about going to get myself...

On the pump and this happened

Well, I'm almost always stressed, but getting panicky and stressed often leads to me feeling the same so you could well be right, that's what caused it, but I do also think you make a very good point that my liver could have kicked out some glucose! What I've also noticed that if I go out on an...

On the pump and this happened

Ok, so I've been on the accu check combo coming up for a year now and last month I went on holiday to Tenerife. As it was an early morning flight, I woke up at 3am with a level of 6.0 (great :) After getting everything together and in the car, we took the 1 hour journey to luton airport...

Question about active insulin on the spirit combo remote

Yeah, it is so annoying. It's like a half baked job. Why oh why can't they just so all active insulin for the set duration regardless or carbs taken as a bolus or any corrections. It makes it sound like it shows true insulin stacking, but it doesn't!

Acting time setting with the Aviva Combo handset

Hi guys I use Novorapid with my spirit combo pump. On the Aviva Combo handset / meter, in advice options what Acting Time would people recommend I use? As a default it's currently set to 4:00 hours, so should I leave it at that or increase / decrease the time? Or do I really need to go down...
