    Advice with libre results

Thanks all. I currently split my levemir at 7am / 7pm, and my morning dose seems to hold my levels steady all day with 9u. Any more and I hypo in the day. Several tests have proven this. My evening 21u seems to be I effective until early morning, but it's the constant waking in the night with...

    Advice with libre results

Hi all, I have done a fair bit of basal testing using the libre and noticed a trend where my BG rises from around 9pm till 3am. It can often reach 15, however come 6 or 7am it drops to around 7 or 8. I'm not convinced taking more is the answer due to the drop, and wondered what your advice...

    Freestyle optimum neo battery

The battery warning is showing on my meter and I wondered if anybody gets the batteries on prescription. I have had the meter 7 months so I am surprised it needs replacing already. I had a look at freestyle at the no longer send out replacements due to postage restrictions. Yes I know I could...

    High morning sugars

Hi Andy, could you confirm when you eat tea and a typical evening meal? The reason I ask is sometimes your digestive system is still processing foods if you eat late, and if a particularly high carb meal (especially complex carbs) could contribute to over night rises. Has your partner...

    Chuffed with HbA1c

Thanks Fleegle. If I am honest I have paid Close attention to everything I have been told by the consultant and DSNs, who have been fantastic. Unfortunately I am starting to realise it's not always this way for others as It depends where you are. I have cut out pasta and rice as they were my...

    Chuffed with HbA1c

Six months after diagnosis and have managed to reduce my HbA1c from 158 down to 49 :) Absolutely over the moon, but I have been advised cholesterol is slightly high at 5.5 so I will work on that before my next consultant review in October.

    Basics

Sam it's good to hear you are finally taking control, however I strongly suggest you speak to your DSN regarding these types of tests. If done incorrectly it could lead to a serious hypo. It may also benefit yourself to go back to basics and see how things have changed over the years. It can't...

    Anybody else experience this?

All of your info is spot on as I took my morning bolus 10 mins before eating breakfast and the spike has reduced. I will try little adjustments at a time and this morning it has helped with not such a high reading 2hrs after.

    Anybody else experience this?

I inject the rapid immediately before eating as this is what I was advised. I shall try a bit before and see how that goes.

    Anybody else experience this?

i have been using a libre for the past fortnight and started to realise something unusual. It is my understanding that the principle of rapid insulin (Novorapid) is to create a short spike and then over a four hour period slowly reduce the glucose levels. What I have started to see using the...

    Hypo

I am by no means an expert as only diagnosed Dec 16, however I have noticed trends over the past week. I have since reduced my basal by 1 unit in the morning and it seems to delay hypos. I still get one around 5pm so I shall either prepare for it or reduce basal by another half unit. I do...

Seeking help to explain these results

Recently had my 1st HbA1c and just received the patients copy of the results. Can anybody explain what the rest of the results are for and what the acceptable limits are. Nothing was mentioned at my consultation, so I assume nothing to worry about however I wouldn't like to self educate myself...

What is going on with my blood sugar??

I suffer this myself at the moment, and found out that rice takes longer to break down so continues to rise for approx 4 hours. Perhaps this was what you experienced. I only found this out as I have just started using the freestyle libre, and provides lots of info.

    Travelling with supplies

@azure by all means if you feel it is better suited there. I thought as it is a generic question it sat well in this forum.

    Travelling with supplies

I have done some searching but can not find an answer. I am due to fly on a domestic U.K flight and will need to take 8 days worth of supplies. I have a note from the GP, however I just thought about the packaging. Does the supplies need to be in its original packaging, or can I bung it all in...

    Insurance with diabetes

This is just a thought but now that you are no longer a bus driver, perhaps the insurance company no longer recognises you as a professional driver. Perhaps this a contribution along with what others have said.

Mmol/l at time of being diagnosed,

Diagnosed in Dec 16 and my HbA1c was...... 158mmol/mol (23.8mmol/l) or 16%. Yes I kid you not and these were confirmed by DSN and consultant. How on earth I walked into hospital and after 48hrs walked out, I will never now. Had my quarterly HbA1c and it is now down to 58mmol/mol (9.3mmol/l) or...

How to raise a quality issue with needles

Does anybody know who we can contact regarding poor quality needles as part of the NHS prescription service? I have had several needles of the same batch number of GlucoRx needles that feel blunt and do not penetrate the skin. I have contacted the manufacturer, but wondered if there is a...
