Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Mine is 7.1, the third result during my 1-year Type-1 diabetes. The two previous ones were 6.8-6.9 My doctor said it's fine up until 7.5, but I still can't help feeling disappointed and blaming myself.

So this must be "diabetic burnt-out"

Hello everyone, Thank you for your support and advice... This is a long journey, there are so many things to learn. I know it's very new for me and I shouldn't be this pessimistic right in the beginning, but it's just so inevitable. Today I had my check-up. I told my concerns and all my...

So this must be "diabetic burnt-out"

I've had T1 diabetes for a year now. My previous 2 HbA1c results were very good. There were times that I felt very tired of it, but it didn't take longer than maybe 2 weeks. But this time, it feels very different. It's been 2 months or so, I have lost all my control over diabetes. I don't check...

    Lantus dose adjustment

Hello all, Thank you again for your replies. Dear Otenba, my problem was that I was having really high BG for around 2 weeks, especially 2 hrs after lunch. But then again, some 4-5 hours after NovoRapid, I had lows at times. So I couldn't decide what to do with Lantus. Some friends on the...

    Period and being Type-1 diabetic...

Crisis time! My period is soon, obviously, as I feel like eating whole day. And the worst is that I'm craving mostly sweets. Fruit, unfortunately, isn't satisfying enough. I know I should put a limit to it and I feel guilty but it's just impossible. And periods are the time when it feels so...

    Lantus dose adjustment

Hello friends, Thank you very much for your replies! I don't have to change my Lantus to 15 units any more because my BS has turned to normal. Actually the idea of reducing it made me so happy but...Anyway! I believe I showed good progress in 4 months, going from 24 to 15, but still I have a...

    Lantus dose adjustment

Hello all, In an earlier post by me, a few friends suggested that I should decrease my Lantus dose, which is currently 16, as I had lows 5 hours after NovoRapid. I decided to try 16 dose a few days more to see what will happen and I've been having lows since yesterday. So, it's sure that I...

    Highs highs and highs...

I don't have a special diet or I don't low-carb. But a bit picky about carbs as there's the danger of putting on weight and other health issues: I always eat rye-bread(the best part of living in Finland!) and wholemeal pasta/rice in moderate portions. But lately I've eaten some white rice and...

A question about hypo, quick carbs and NovoRapid

I've just checked it and it's 4.4. Wonderful :) Sometimes I get panicked and eat way too much sweets during a hypo... Then I always have to take more insulin to cover them too  But now I'm learning :D

A question about hypo, quick carbs and NovoRapid

Hi Ebony, Thank you very much for your reply. OK, so I did the right thing :) I covered only the food. I'll check my blood sugar 1 hour later and see what's happening. Well, I guess in my case it's better to take NovoRapid before eating. My blood sugar has been pretty up and down for a while...

    Highs highs and highs...

Snodger, thank you so much! It's been such a relief to talk about my worries and problems in the forum and have your suggestions. Actually I've got this habit of injecting after meals since I started the school. Mostly because I felt embarrassed to inject in public at school's cafeteria. Also...

A question about hypo, quick carbs and NovoRapid

Hello, I have a question about hypo and insulin. For example, before dinner, I had a hypo. I took one table spoon of honey and then ate food. Now I can't decide how to adjust the NovoRapid: Should I count the carbs of honey (as it was for hypo) or only the food? Another question, I...

    Highs highs and highs...

Hello Snodger, I'm on NovoRapid and Lantus. I inject around 12 or sometimes 12:30 right after the lunch. When I check it 2 hours later, it's around 12 or even 14. I inject 16 Lantus and was planning to make it 17, but then I also have these hypos.

    Highs highs and highs...

Thank you...And I will :) By the way, my blood sugar was 8 at 16:10(4 PM). But now I'm having low. It was 3.4 some 20 mins before. And yesterday I had 2.3 around 5 PM, as I said in my first post. It was 14.5 around 2 PM! What's going on...

Do you write down your blood test results?

Is anyone using FreeStyle Freedom of Abbott? They have a PC programme too but I'm not sure if they send the connection cable for free or you have to pay for it.

    Type1's can you remember???

I had a very bad accident last year, cut my leg deep to the bone, and it all started then... First, due to depression and trauma, I started losing chunks of hair. Out of a sudden, I had vaginal infection. Then I got strange spots on my back... Then I moved to Finland in December 2010. I was...

    Highs highs and highs...

Hello Herbie, Thank you for your reply. I try not to worry but it's so disappointing. And as I remember all those symptoms and problems I had, without knowing it was actually diabetes, it worries me a lot to experience the same things again... Well, I'm good at adjusting carb/insulin ratio...

Do you write down your blood test results?

You must write. That's the best way to keep everything under control. I do the same mistake sometimes, I feel too lazy to write down. But then, days later, I can't be sure if things are going well or not. Also, your nurse/doctor must see your results to make a good judgment. Always write them down.

    Highs highs and highs...

Hello all, I've been Type-1 diabetic for 4 months. And for the last 4 days I definitely feel depressed and I'm already sick of it. My blood sugar was going on perfect. My first HbA1c result was really good, even my nurse said I'm one of the few diabetics who show such a good progress. But...
