Prescribed Dapagliflozin yet on Keto Diet :|

Dap and Emp are in the same family of drugs, SGLT2i's. They are both (along with a third drug in the family) contra indicated alongside a ketogenic diet because they raise the risk of DKA. I suggest that you speak to your prescriber ASAP.

    Contaminated Metformin?

After reading 'Bottle of Lies' by Catherine Eban I am tempted to think that it is the generic drug industry that is at fault here but I am under no illusions about the drug industry as a whole. Not enough checks and balances. This stark warning is one I will bear in mind on all...

    Family history link?

Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease. It is quite different from Type 2 Diabetes. The similarities are so few that treatment and lifestyle changes vary enormously.

What is the difference between starvation and fasting?

A better way of looking at autophagy is to think of it as recycling. Old and amaged cells are broken down into constituent parts and reused, nothing is wasted. Only with true starvation will the body access muscle tissue in extremis which is what I think you may be thinking.

What is the difference between starvation and fasting?

I lost weight without fasting. I would have fasted if I was able and may have lost weight more quickly but LCHF did the job for me. If you can start with Intermittent Fasting after a few weeks or months of a low carb way of eating you may find that easier and less worrying. People do not...

    Is Low-Carb for me?

As you are into your fourth week you may only just be getting into ketosis. I personally would not reintroduce carbs at this stage for a couple of reasons, one is that the liver needs to empty itself of excess fat and the other is that higher levels of carbs require a higher insulin response...

    To statin or not?

When you are sat across the desk from The Big Fella it must, indeed, be very difficult. An hypothesis that is wrong is still wrong even when cited by a consultant.

    To statin or not?

Statins do not decrease sdLDL and may even increase the number. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2929871/?fbclid=IwAR36duNvTnym940SXv0yYFCcL6JMzWhue3AszDI34iklkz-qkkIXuutDqWs

    To statin or not?

The Total Cholesterol number is unimportant unless it is very low or sky high. It is the breakdown/ratio that is important and as to higher cholesterol (even LDL) women especially are said to benefit from higher numbers than those stated in guidelines. Cholesterol is important not only as a...
