    HbA1c 94 to 34 in 3 months

I've never had a HbA1c over 9.0 %. This is in Germany. Do you use a different scale of measurement? Germany uses mg/dl but % for HbA1c only - very confusing.

Type 2 When to test sugar levels - new diagnosis

It's frightening at first but getting a doc who knows his/her way around diabetes and its drugs is a great help. May involve changing GP. Other ailments need watching. Mine, believe it or not, is gout. Don't laugh. As a 17th century clergyman noted, it's like walking on your eyeballs. How is...

    Metformin slow release

I had to abandon Metformin after a couple of months. The stuff made me sicker than a dog and I got very fed up with the daily early morning visit to the bathroom. They gave me different tablets costing €20 a month extra that had zero side effects. As I now inject insulin the problem solved...

Effects of diabetes on the legs

I have brown flecks on the lower legs and occasionally a feeling as if I've been stung there by a bee. Is this anything to do with diabetes - or just another of the joys of getting old? Or perhaps due to the heat?

    Insulin injection oddity (?)

I have an odd problem. When injecting I have trouble ensuring the angle is correct and have often either bent the needle or shot the dose onto the skin, where it does no good at all. I assume this has to do with my eyes having both been operated on and cataracts replaced with artificial lenses...

    Metformin Or Not!

I can't stand Metformin - makes me ill. Received wisdom is to keep taking it and you will eventually get used to it. I stopped taking the stuff as I got fed up with visiting the bathroom every morning at 2 a.m. being sick. I have since discovered I am not alone - but this drug is favoured...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

I'm afraid mine's around 9 if I have the conversion right (here in Germany they use mg/dl)
