One for the ladies - missed periods

Hi to the op. I've had similar problems to yourself and eventually was diagnosed with uterine fibroids after a visit to the hospital. Was told that they were minute but started on the mirena coil (the one with the hormones) and its been bliss so far!

Sitagliptin or pioglitazone - that is the question !

I'm currently on sitagliptin with no problems but previously I was taking pioglitazone or actos and found that I was increasingly hungry and ended up putting on 10 lbs in a relatively short period of time but on the plus side it did control my blood sugar even on the lowest dose which I was taking.

    cholesterol

I was told by my DN that a non fasting test can only give you an overall result and a fasting test can be broken down better and give you a more precise reading.

Who saw the channel4 programme on GLP-1 drugs?

Re: Who saw the channel4 programme on GGLP-1 drugs? Hi. Yes I did catch most of this programme and really this isn't anything that I didn't know or suspect already. The really sobering thing is that now I've seen it clarified on national tv it really scares the beejeezus out of me! Most of the...

    Bruising??

Think I read somewhere (could even have been on here!) that this is something to do with your liver not working as efficiently as it could. Before diagnosis I noticed that any bruises I had took ages to heal and the doctor suggested fatty liver. Now my diabetes is under control this doesn't...

Is anyone else sensitive to metformin and sitagliptin?

Hi there just to let you know that I have been on both these medications together for about a year now and previously on the metformin alone. The Glucophage sr upset my tummy a lot more at first but now it's at a level I can live with so this could be the reduced carbs (not vlchf) or just my...

    Surgery and meds

Thanks for the reply. I was initially worried because I've read that you should stop metformin a couple of days before an operation in case of lactic acidosis? Anyway let's hope that they know what they are doing. I'll check with a pharmacist when I'm out and about today. Thanks again!

    Surgery and meds

Hi everyone. I'm going into hospital for an operation on Monday and I'm a bit confused about what to do with medication. I'm on Glucophage and januvia and the leaflet I was given by hospital says to take meds up to day before op. my op is in the afternoon and I'm worried that my blood sugar will...

    Pioglitazone

Hi there just noticed your post. I was on pioglitazone or Actos for five or six months with the only side effect being the 14 lb weight gain! I read all the stories from America law suits etc and it didn't really phase me as I was on the lowest dose and felt perfectly fine with it. I was on a...

    Low Blood Sugar level

Hi there, I was under the impression that it would be very hard for a t2 on diet etc only to have a hypo when not using medication so I'd advise you to see your nurse or gp.

    Gliclazide and Metformin

Oh should have said that I too suffered with a really bad stomach even with the Glucophage but as soon as I got my serious head on and paid more attention to my diet the runs disappeared believe it or not and I'm not a VLC person though I try to aim for under 100g a day or there about. Would...

    Gliclazide and Metformin

Hi cooljools, in answer to your question I am on Januvia or sitagliptin as it is known, this drug does not make you put on weight but it is a newer drug so there are risks involved. However, I take it with Glucophage so unsure if it would be prescribed on its own.it is a shame you can't tolerate...

    Yoghurt

Hi everyone. I am not a particularly low-carber but I am trying to make small changes. Of course breakfast is a problem especially if during the week all you have time for is a bowl of cereal, but I have started to have a yoghurt with some berries when I am pushed for time. The thing is I've...

    Ache's and Pains - Sitaglyptin ?

Hi. I was on Januvia a month or so back and had to stop taking it when my face started to ache uncontrollably. Turns out I had parotitis which has now cleared a bit after some penicillin. I am to start taking it on march 28th again so fingers crossed. I noticed that when I took it in the morning...
