Low carb ,low calorie pizza base

I saw a YouTube video for a cloud bread pizza - basically just beaten egg whites with a little bit of cornflour, so reasonably low carb (I think it was 13g of carbs for the whole pizza) and low calorie.

    Why no weight loss?

I’m currently doing Michael Mosley’s Fast 800 diet and the weight is dropping off. If I’m strict I can lose around a pound a day on it. It’s not easy as you are restricted to 800 calories. I bought both his book, which explains the science behind it, and the recipe book which is more useful...

Reversing T2 Diabetes diet (Prof Taylor Newcastle)

2 and a half weeks in and I’ve lost over a stone now. I hit a bit of a plateau last week but seem to be losing again now. I have 3 shakes a day and usually a salad in the evening, with a bit of mayo on it, so I am getting some oil via the mayo. I sometimes have poached egg on buttered toast -...

Reversing T2 Diabetes diet (Prof Taylor Newcastle)

Reviving an old thread. I’ve just started the Newcastle Diet using 3 shakes a day and having an evening meal of salad and some protein - either chicken or fish. I’ve lost 7 lbs in 4 days so it certainly seems to be working. I tend to eat low carb anyway but have not had much success in weight...

Did you know before a positive pregnancy test?

I knew a work colleague was pregnant before she had it confirmed with a test. Just a change on behaviour- a slight fuzziness of memory. I’d noticed the same in my wife so I said to the work colleague “ you’re not pregnant are you”. She said no but then found out she was a couple of weeks later.

    Running Gels / Nutrition

I cycle rather than run, but for keeping hydrated, I use High 5 Zero tabs dissolved in water, no calories,no carbs but replace electrolyte and fluids. I just eat normal food rather than gels. But for an hour and a half effort I wouldn't bother eating. If you are fat-adapted you don't need to...

Egg and Bacon Muffins Grease a muffin tin with butter or olive oil, place a strip of streaky bacon cut in half in the shape of a cross in the bottom, then crack an egg on top. Bake for 20 minutes. You can make several at once and they keep for up to 3 days in the fridge. Can be eaten cold or...

    Dr Eric Berg confusing advice

Dr Berg is not a medical doctor, he got his degree in and was a practicing chiropractor, and he's not a dietician. I think he trades off his "Dr" credentials and is a bit of a fraud.

Funny, if it wasn't so stupid.

I've only ever had one month's worth of Metformin per prescription, though I've only been taking it for 9 months. I get free prescriptions despite being only 59 - you get a form signed by the doctor and will then be sent an exemption certificate that lasts for 5 years. I also don't have any...

    Prescription Costs

Prescription are free for Type 2's as well. Also, if you are getting a form from your GP, they should know your NHS number. I filled my form in there and then and handed it back to the receptionist, who got the doctor to sign it and they sent it off. I got my exemption certificate about a week...

Nasty experience with pineapple and orange

Apples ok, but not banana. I've heard a banana refered to as a sugar stick. My DB nurse told me to stop eating citrus fruits and bananas and to eat fibrous fruits such as apples and pears, as the fibre makes them slower to digest and they therefore don't spike your blood sugar as much. I also...

How soon does metformin take effect?

I'm also recently diagnosed - Aug 2017. Started taking Metformin and my HbA1c dropped from 75 to 58 in 3 months. However, it seems this wasn't good enough and the Diabetic Nurse put my dose up to 4 tablets a day (2000mg total). I've been slowly adjusting my diet - cut out pasta and potatoes but...
