    Jelly Sweets & Insulin

Thank you, they would be my "desert" so straight after my dinner. I had a complete blank as I'm used to using them for hypo treatment. I dont snack on thing like that - being a dental nurses it against what I know :) xxx

    Jelly Sweets & Insulin

My mind has gone blank. I attended a course similar to Daphne last year and it went through all the usually carb counting and foods to inject for etc. One thing I've gone blank on is Jelly Sweets, like Haribo. I only ever use these to treat hypos but every now and then would like a treat of...

High BG levels during the night.

We definitely do find out our quirks. I'm certainly still learning about this funny disease we have. X

High BG levels during the night.

Usually my levels are pretty good around bedtime, I've had a few days since starting the libre with there are a few ups - maybe up to 10 and go up and down and wake up on a good number. But never understand what causes the big rises. I think you are right, I should finger prick test along side...

High BG levels during the night.

Hi Urbanracer Thanks for your reply. Most evenings we east around 6/630, on the odd occasion it may be later. Dinners can vary from Chicken salad and potatoes to pizza and salad. There is usually some carb (sometimes low, but obviously half a pizza is pretty carby)but inject a ratio of 1:10. I...

High BG levels during the night.

Good morning I wonder if anyone could shed some light. I am on my third week of the freestyle libre which is great, it's so helpful with understanding which way your Bg levels are going etc. It has also explained alot of me since using it. Prior to using I would often wake with bg level of say...

    Insulin= Weight Gain

About 10 months after I was diagnosed (which was 2017) I was at my heaviest. I am unfortunately overweight and have been for as long as I remember. My dsn explained it may be likely that I would put on weight as I had lost alot of weight a few weeks prior to diagnosis and that from her...

    Spikes after meal

Afternoon lovelies. How do you prevent spikes in bg levels after eating? My dsn said this is normal but I'd love to be able to stay in range after eating a little more. I inject pre-meal. There are certain food that make my bgl spike more, for example cereal - anyone else? xo Scarlett

    FreeStyle Libre

I bought some round plasters that go over the existing adhesive just incase it starts to come loose. Haven't had to use them yet though - bought from Ebay. Bought some funky ones from an online diabetes page too. Not sure I would find one of these bands comfy, but I dont think they are too...

Free Style Libre - Smart Watch Scanning

Does anyone know if you can use a Smart Watch to directly scan a freestyle libre? If this is possible which smart watches are best to do this? I'm guessing the watch would have to have NFC like a smart phone does. The only info I can find include a MaioMaio to get continuous bg results. Thanks

    Type 1 Sickness bug

Last night/this morning I have been sick 6 times. I haven't eaten anything and only had a sip of original Lucozade thay my OH got me. I have been testing my glucose levels and they are fairly high, 14.5mmols being the highest after one small beaker of Lucozade. I was only diagnosed being a T1D...

    Type 1 Sugar level spikes

I've been T1D since early Sept '17. My "honeymoon" period ended in January I think as I noticed my sugar levels were getting higher even though my diet remained the same. Over the last week I have been getting quite high spikes and sugar levels that don't seem to come down. Is this quite...

Can you become type 1 after being type 2 for 15 years

So I am type one and was diagnosed 5 months ago at the age of 26. My dad is type 2 and was diagnosed around 15 years ago, his diabetes has never been well concerned with his last HBA1C at 86. My first hbac1 was 56 (my diabetic nurse was really pleased) After saying to dad he needs to change...

    Honey mood stage.

Oh yes, I've been told a few things. Most useful and some not so much from those that know naff all about type 1. Incredibly frustrating. I think because I've been pretty positive about the whole thing I'm desperate to control it rather than it control me, which sometimes I feel it does. I...

    Honey mood stage.

I saw my DSN on the 9th Nov and she said there's not too much that can be done :/ apart for reducing doses, never stop my slow release and never feed my insulin. Hopefully the consultant can help in January. It's frustrating as so many people are ignorant about type one and always tell me to...

    Honey mood stage.

It's only been 3 months-ish. But I seem to have it in my mind that I need to control it. Which isn't wrong I guess but beat myself up which I'm having a hypo.. sometimes I having them I don't even feel shaky etc which is frustrating as I think I'm doing well. X
