Last nights meeting wasn't the biggest success we hoped for. it was a very low turn out. But we all have to start somewhere. Going to try some extra marketing for next month. I don't give up easily.

After two months of planning and preparation, the first meeting of Cumnock Area Diabetes Support will be held this evening. Guests to include staff from diabetes UK Glasgow office and local councillors. Everyone who wants to and lives close enough is invited to attend. Happy World Diabetes Day.

Had a reply from councillor kathy Morrice, (Spokesperson for Community Wellbeing) East Ayrshire Council, accepting my invitation to my first meeting on Nov 14th.

Went to the Glasgow office yesterday to discuss the speaker for the first meeting. Was warmly welcomed by Honor Shaw who has also agreed to be my first speaker on the subject of Diabetes UK. Roll on 14th november.

My doc was so nice I didn't want to upset her, so just told her I had been watching what I eat, LOL, And of course I was exercising.

just back from my 3 month review, 1st one since being diagnosed and my results are Hb1ac was 9.6, now 6.7. cholesterol was 6.5 now 4.6. This is all down to the advice I receive on here, my thanks go to everyone who ever posted.

I have that in hand too. within the town hall there is a larger room i can use at short notice. I don't want to start limiting anyone from coming. the more the merrier.

hi jopar yes I spoke to a reporter yesterday and he said the paper will do a feature on diabetes. He will also come to the first meeting with a photographer. Thanks for your suggestion. bob

Thanks everyone for your comments. Defren, i wont be posting about my personal life, sorry if I didn't make myself clear enough. This account is to help me promote my new support group in the hope I can get a good turn out. I actually don't like them myself but will use it as a tool to help me.

I gave up in May this year. Not Easy. I used patches and the inhalator. My wife has been trying to give up since May as well but shw is not having much success. she has just started using Champix.

The first meeting of cumnock area diabetes support will be held on Wed 14th November at Cumnock Town Hall starting at 19.30Hrs. It would be nice if anyone from this forum who lives in the area or nearby could come along. If you do please come and say hello to me, I will be the rather panic...

Got my hall booked through till April. First meeting will be Wed 14 November, (World Diabetes day), How appropriate is that? Will post more details in the events thread.
