    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

I've just taken a look at the Dexcom prices, and it's eye-watering! I thought the Libre was expensive! If I were to use Dexcom long term, I'd definitely be looking to use the sensors longer than a week (which appears to be possible with Dexcom). That said, I would recommend going for a flash...

    Hmmm might adopt that approach...

Freestyle Libre Sensor - Sensor supply concerns

My doctor used to give me loads of grief about the number of test strips I got ("Do you REALLY need to test 3 times a day?"), so I ended up buying extra strips. I estimate zero chance of my area putting the Libre on prescription, but I'm seeing my consultant in 2 weeks so will see what he says...

Freestyle Libre Sensor - Sensor supply concerns

I placed my first order with the web shop a few days before they closed it. With this web shop closure, and the time delay before buying new sensors, I'm unable to get any spare sensors in case my current one malfunctions (it's reading high at the moment, which I can compensate for at least)...

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Thanks Scott-C. I still haven't got my head around flash monitoring yet - but i will certainly have a look at Blucon now. :)

    Changing Libre sensor at work.......

I'd change it at my desk personally. .... which is a bad idea given the number of germs on the average desk. I suspect toilets that are cleaned regularly each day are probably better :) Thinking about it, most large offices have a First Aid room somewhere, so you could always speak to your...

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Abbott have closed their web store to new customers, and put a 2-sensors-every-25-days restriction on existing customers. I just ordered mine in time to avoid being "locked out". Probably a temporary restriction, but it shows how popular these devices are!

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Just got my Libre yesterday, and I am blown away so far... Expected a stab of pain applying the sensor - but it was absolutely painfree! After 21 years of T1 Diabetes, doing exactly the same thing (short acting, long acting, finger pricks) this feels like a game changer! If my wife suspects...

D'oh, of course :) Thanks - I totally forgot about VAT.

    Thiamine deficiency in diabetics

It's varied a bit depending on what supplements I've had in. 3 x 100mg is my usual dose, as it matches the dose used in the nephropathy clinical trials. It was previously thought that no more than 10mg per day of Thiamine could be usefully taken, as the Thiamine transport mechanism in humans...

    Thiamine deficiency in diabetics

I have a starter kit on order now, but the order has been put on hold, as Abbot have no stock :arghh: Looks like it's going to cost me £88 per month. Does that sound about right? £44 per sensor, 2 sensors a month? Edit: Have just looked and seen it's £57 for a sensor on the Abbot website...

    Thyamin/thiamine supplement dose

So you were already on 300mg daily of Thiamine - presumably you didn't notice any improvementa in your nephropathy while taking it then? Wondering if you're still taking the B1, or if you think it made any difference at all?

    Thyamin/thiamine supplement dose

I'd like to know that too. But, the dosage is so high it's unlikely anyone will have taken enough I'd have thought. It's a crying shame we haven't seen any definitive studies on this - studies that go on for years rather than months. Who would fund it though?

Type 1 have I forgotten my Lantus?

Personally, I would not do any Lantus, and just give extra insulin as required during the day. This has happened to me several times. After doing the same thing every night for years, you just get so used to doing it. I got a device which clips to the end of my pen, and resets a timer every...

    metforming and insulin

I'm Type 1, and take 2000g Metformin per day thanks to my fantasic DN. I used to be so insulin resistant in the mornings, that I could inject 30 units of insulin after waking up, not eat anything, and still see my blood sugars rise. It was crazy, and I didn't bother with breakfasts for years...

    Thyamin/thiamine supplement dose

The kidneys are responsible for "reclaiming" some vitamins before they are excreted. Researchers found a massively increased renal clearance rate of Thiamine in both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs00125-007-0771-4...

Type 1 laparoscopic surgery recovery type 1

I had my Gallbladder out 2 years ago with laparoscopic surgery. Was walking around 30 minutes after waking up, and back at work a week later. Felt a great sense of wellbeing & Euphoria for two days afterwards. But, I had dental surgery a couple of years before that, and felt sick as a dog...

    Thiamine -Vitamin B1 Defficiency

Hehe no problem. Here's a good starting point, as there is good background information. This study is of uncontrolled T2 patients, but one study of T1 patients where they normalised their blood glucose as part of the study, showed no improvement in Glutathione synthesis...

    Thiamine -Vitamin B1 Defficiency

Hi, Diabetes causes several deficiencies - Thiamine being one of the more notable ones. I read in one of Prof. Thornalley's papers that renal clearance of Thiamine in diabetics can be over 30x normal. Hence needing to use megadoses to rectify it. Just as worrying to me is Glutathione -...

    Thiamine deficiency in diabetics

Not sure if you're aware, but there is at least one clinician seriously trying to cure T1 diabetes. Denise Faustman is currently running the BCG Phase II trials over in the States. Definitely worth 10 minutes reading up about her research...
