    Diabetes in the news

Having seen 2 local news programs recently with diabetes as a topic, I have been left raging. Firstly was an amputee learning to walk on a prosthetic lower leg & the man in question admitted to ignoring his diabetes, not listening to his doctor or taking his medication. Why would you do that? I...

    HBA1C

Is it wrong to be feeling a little smug with myself? I was diagnosed in March of this year, due to pancreatitus & pancreatic cyst. My HBA1C at the time was 119. I was told it would take about 12 months to get it down to a normal level of between 47-53. I've just had the results from my 2nd 3...

    Blood sugar record books

Can anyone tell me where I can order a new diary to record my blood sugar levels please? I registered with the makers of my monitor & ordered 1 before. Went to order 1 today to be told I've had the maximum allowance. I can't get anymore. I don't know where to get them from Thanks in advance x

    Blood Donor

Thank you Jenny. I had emergency gallbladder removal due to it almost splitting due to gall stones. I wasn't even aware I had them until 1 moved & passed through the pancreas. Both myself & my daughter have had our gallbladder removed & we are both susceptible to pancreatitus. I've had it 3...

    Blood Donor

Thank you for taking the time to answer my query. I'm on metafmin twice daily & have been since mid March. It's taken a few months to get my sugar levels down. It's been a slow process. I was blue lighted by ambulance to hospital with chest pain & difficulty in breathing. Turned out to be...

    Blood Donor

Can anyone advise me on this. I've been a blood donor for tears but as newly diagnosed diabetic it is now bothering me. I feel a bit daft so don't want to bother the Dr or nurses, but can I still donate blood? I'm taking 1000mg of metaformin twice daily so don't k ow if I should Any advice...

    Confusing

Thank you very much for this information. I've managed to shed 9kg in weight since mid March, I've reduced my starchy carbs d cut out refined sugar. I'm still getting frustrated with food labels. It seems that if a food is low in sugar it's high in fat or vise versa. I'm still not sure of a lot...

    Confusing

I'm new to this. I was diagnosed in March. My GP & diabetes nurse at my local surgery have been brilliant. I've been given loads of support & a heap of literature to read. I think I've gone into information overload trying to understand it all. Did/does anyone else feel like this.
