You could not make this up ...

This one is worthy of a Sun headline. Had a phone appointment with the diabetic nurse this afternoon. I had been prescribed a Libre2 blood glucos monitor by my diabetes doctor, as I had had a few scary hypos, but my GP practice refused to let me have one as I did not fit the criteria (so I am...

Stopping the Libre2 sensor from falling off???

Thank you everyone. I am right that once they detach from your arm, you cannot reattach them? So that's a very expensive flaw in their construction. I am trying a few of your suggestions right now, so far so good.

Stopping the Libre2 sensor from falling off???

In this sticky hot weather, how do you keep your sensor in place? The first one lasted a week before falling off, the second lasted half an hoiur and I couldn't find it, and the third, on now, has had to be strapped to my arm. I do just what it says in the instructions, I also bought some...

    Ozempic and retinopathy

I was prescribed Ozempic and was on it for around a month when I read that it can adversely affect vision. I have retinopathy and receive regular laser treatment which is adversely affecting my vision. In my part of the country it is impossible to get answers to medical questions, so I wondered...

Type 2 Retinopathy treatment side effects??

Thank you so much. I have recently seen an optician, but it was a confusing and upsetting appointment. I will check to see if there is an emergency number to ring. I have contacted the consultant's secretary twice, but no response.

Type 2 Retinopathy treatment side effects??

Hi everyone. I am a T2 on insulin, diagnosed around 18 years ago. I am now 68 and have recently been diagnosed with Hashimoto's as well - what joy. One big problem is my vision. I have now had four laser treatments on my eyes, the last time was for glaucoma in one eye, and proliferative (?)...

    Pregabalin/Gabapentin Side Effects & Neuropathy

Hi Caz. I have had diabetic neuropathy for many years now, and for a few years I was on Pregabelin then Gabapentin. They certainly helped with the foot pain, but I found my brain turning to mush, so I decided to stop taking this type of drug. Do NOT suddenly stop - you need to come off these...

    Libre2 recommended and refused!

After getting nowhere with the NHS I saw a private endocrinologist who recommended in a report to my GP that I should get a Libre2 monitor on the NHS. This was in May. Updates were not forthcoming, but after a particularly nasty hypo (3.1) this week I waited in a phone queue forever, only to be...

Lighting for poor vision, plus a miracle treatment

Hi there! Thank you so much. This is so interesting (if sad for us both), and I would love to reply properly when I have more time, if that's OK.

Lighting for poor vision, plus a miracle treatment

Thank you for this. It does not help that we have a 200 year old beamed cotttage which is naturally dark!! But I think those fluorescent strips might well be the answer. Again, my thanks. x

Lighting for poor vision, plus a miracle treatment

Thank you so much Carol. I am OK-ish for reading, I just have new reading glasses and I have a magnifying glass in each room! My problem is two-fold. My vision is either totally under exposed in dark rooms, and totally over-exposed in sunlight, and nothing helps. I also have spaces in my...

Lighting for poor vision, plus a miracle treatment

Hi everyone. I have peripheral retinopathy and in the past year or so it has got much worse, despite regular laser treatment. I would be happy to go anywhere to get treatment, if there are new surgeries or medication not necessarily on the NHS. I live in a cottage and am forever bumping into...

    Terrified of going blind

Hi all. I am T2, on insulin for around 15 years, have suffered from retinopathy for around 5 years. My vision has slowly got worse despite regular laser treatment and steady glucose levels, and recent laser treatment on both eyes has left me with blurry vision, extreme reactions to sunlight and...

    Out of whack

Hi there, thanks for your input. I am in Cornwall, which may as well be Timbuktu when it comes to healthcare. I have had some private bloods done, and they show that I am hypothyroid/Hashi's. But as you probably know, the UK healthcare system only tests for TSH, T3 and T4, but not all the...

    Out of whack

Thanks. I take a number of supplements, all self-prescribed. I take omega 3, a probiotic, fish oil and magnesium. I also take iron and B12 in spray form. If I add folate, would anything clash with that? I also take a raft of prescribed meds including Metformin.

    Out of whack

Oldvatr, you are a star. Thank you so much for the article. I will get some ketone strips. There is so much misinformation out there amongst the medical profession, and I have heard nonsense from a few diabetes nurses. The thyroid and the pancreas are linked and from what I have read, if...

    Out of whack

Thank you guys. I take it you are all living in the UK, and therefore know that we have a health service - NHS and private - in crisis. I live in Cornwall, where our health services have all but collapsed. I got a doctor's appointment, but it was by phone and had four weeks to wait! I have...
