    Diabetes UK Dietary Advice

On the first page of their recipe suggestions there is a recipe coming in at just 76.9g of carbs per portion. What is perhaps worse is glaring errors. A search for Daal suggests that a 300g portion of daal is 1.8g carbs! Please tell me Im wrong as I love Daal. Should it be 18g maybe? Even that...

Trying to keep an open mind.

I came across this article. It suggests low carb diets increase insulin resistance but that this isn't necessarily a problem. https://kresserinstitute.com/normal-blood-sugar-isnt-normal-part-2/

    A1cnow

My results were 47 and 36 within 20 minutes of each other, not 34 and 36.

My instructions say that the pouches can be kept at room temperature for up to 120days. They were both at room temperature.

Yes followed the same procedure. The only difference was I used a different finger. Obviously a less sweet one :)

OK, sorry I understand. I am just concerned that 2 tests so close to each other could give 2 such different results. If I had a lab test today and it came back at 36 I would have no idea if the A1CNow was 11 points out or completely accurate. Then again that assumes I have complete faith in the...

    A1cnow

Not wishing to be pedantic but as the A1CNow results are whole numbers I don't see how they can be 0.1% out. Even if your lab result was 40.1 against an A1CNow result of 40 that's considerably higher than 0.1%.

Yes it was. Obviously the 36 was correct, however! :)

I decided to try out A1CNow at home as an indication of how things are going in between official tests. My latest NHS and private tests have been between 38 and 41. I followed the instructions of A1CNow carefully and got a mildly shocking result of 47. I mulled it over for a few minutes and...

Ocotoberfest, Anyone Else Going And Tips On Limiting Damage

I am a very keen beer drinker and enjoy days at cricket and rugby with friends having a few pints. This time of year is particularly bad! I have switched to wine when Im not at these events but have had a few beers when I am. My HBa1C went from 49 to 38 on a LCHF diet so I can live with that. I...

    Low Carb Diets Dangerous

From my initial reading of the whole report, they considered low carbohydrate as anyone consuming less that 40% of their calories from carbs. It does not follow that consuming 20% of you calories from carbs is detrimental to your mortality. In fact only one of their corroborating studies...

    Gym Bunny...or Not

I don’t know why but I’m reminded of a Jo Brand gag. ‘My husband was getting overweight so I encouraged him to walk 5 miles in the morning and 5 miles in the evening. It worked. By the end of the week the fat f****** was 70 miles away’
