    Being Signed Off Work

Hi all, Not strictly diabtes-related but still has an impact on my T1 none the less! Long story cut short - T1 for 16 years, just been diagnosed with an overactive thyroid and EVERY possible symptom, working 50-60 hours each week between a full-time and a part time job (this is non-negociable...

    Degludec And Hypos

I wasn't really given any information from my consultant and I'm struggling to get through to the nurses - I fly to the states next week so if I can't resolve it by then I'll go back to levemir to avoid anything happening potentially while I'm there!

    Degludec And Hypos

Thank you, that is reassuring. I am waking to between 5-6am everyday with low blood sugar which is so annoying! I will stick it out and see whether the change in dose helps at all.

    Degludec And Hypos

My consultant has recently prescribed degludec as my long acting insulin but since starting it I've woken up with hypos every single morning. I've been reducing the dose by 1 unit every morning until I've reached 15 units to try and stop this but I know it's very long acting and takes a while to...

    Freestyle Libre Reader Malfunction

Hi all Has anyone ever had a problem with their reader? Last night before bed I was showing as hypo so I had my lucozade, waited and rechecked. Still hypo despite no symptoms so I had some more lucozade and went to sleep. Woke up 30 minutes later to test and it was 'LO'. Didn't feel low but too...

Dating With T1d And An Insulin Pump

I am not a pump user but that guy is a jerk!! Clearly a big old wimp lol. Don't let it put you off, there are lots of wonderfully understanding people out there! I've luckily never faced thst, more the curiosity but I hope that you find someone special to share the 'highs and lows' with!

    Fasted Cardio

Hello, I'd usually say about an hour

    Fasted Cardio

Thanks for your feedback - sometimes I have to take as much as 5 units of insulin to stop me from rising. It's such a pain in the butt (literally ha!) as this is the best way to burn fat but at the same time a BS of 15/16 is not great!

    Fasted Cardio

Hi all, I wanted to see if anyone else does fasted cardio in the mornings and what it does to blood sugars? Mine ALWAYS raise without fail and while they do drop after, I have to always take at least 2 units of fast acting before training, and my BS levels still rise. Has anyone found a way to...

    Going away

Hiya, you will be fine! I've never had a problem with my diabetes stuff, in clubs, bars, concerts etc. Just keep a check on your levels and it's good you've got family there to support you. Most importantly, enjoy the concert!!

    Cosmetic surgery and diabetes

Hi all, I have been considering breast augmentation for a few years and I was wondering if any type 1's have had this done? Did you encounter any problems with healing etc? My control is very good and I am totally healthy otherwise, but I know there may be some risks involved. Thank you!

    Protein Powder

Hi all, I recently started going back to the gym and have upped my workouts. I find it difficult to eat enough protein required most days just because I am so busy - 2 jobs and a masters degree! I am also pescatarian so don't eat meat. Can anyone recommend a good protein powder that isn't going...

    Huge night time spike

I've just had a brainwave - I've recently switched from novorapid to fiasp. Could that be causing it?!

    Huge night time spike

My basal is alright, I adjust it very slightly each day depending on whether I'm at work or not because I'm more prone to hypo at work. Can't really eat nothing from 3pm onwards as my shift patterns mean I work until 11pm so I'll be starving hungry lol! I'll just have to try and experiment...

    Huge night time spike

I have a finger prick meter I use sometimes too but I feel high when I am this high - just find it odd that EVERY SINGLE TIME a correction dose doesn't help!! The 5am rise doesn't happen usually with me, I tend to have a rise once I'm actually physically out of bed. Bloody diabetes eh!?

    Huge night time spike

Hi all, Can anyone shed some light!? Very recently (last couple of months) I've been having huge night time spikes if I eat any sort of carbohydrate around 2-4 hours before bed. I carb count so I eat carbs in my diet. This has never been an issue for me, but it's driving me insane now and I...

    Back pain or kidney pain?

I thought I hurt my back a few days ago, but now the pain seems to be more like tender kidney pain, but I'm not quite sure. It's on the right side, almost lower-mid back and I can feel it 'throb' when I walk. I don't have any usual symptoms of a kidney/urine infection but I feel a little...

    Getting Signed off Work

Thank you all for your replies. I saw the GP yesterday and she signed me off, plus she's sending me for an ecg and 24 hour heart and blood pressure monitoring as I've been having palpitations and chest pain - probably due to stress, but better be safe than sorry!
