Free flu jab offered to record numbers this year

This is a great initiative - it makes me really happy to hear that vaccines are available for free, to people with long term health conditions, in England. This is so very important and imperative!

    Alcohol and Diabetes

You and him could both meet a diabetes practitioner - explaining to him how dangerous alcohol can be to the system when you're a Type 1 diabetic. You could repeatedly call him and request him to place alarms on his phone - then physically record the sugar levels. Even if he agrees to message you...

    The Guardian

So true. If the number of diabetics increased in the world (whatever the type) there will be more customers in the market to purchase the diabetes-related medications and more patients to visit doctors. This could potentially, also be a great reason why it is extremely difficult to hope for a...

    Insulin not working!!

Has this allergy to insulin been right from the beginning, or have you developed it over a period of time? Also, what do your meals consist of and what are the conditions like where you live? It wouldn't be insulin resistance as you've been dealing with hypos. This could neither be, a possible...

Carb counting and high blood sugars advice

It really depends with what you've eaten - even if you have counted the carbs right, but your meal consists of fast-acting carbohydrates, then your sugar will most likely spike before the insulin reaches the blood and begin to 'kick' in. It would be more beneficial if you stated what you ate and...

    wot to eat

Firstly, low carbs are not a joke - they are a really important factor for many in managing Diabetes (whether type I or type II). Also, it would be easier to understand your current condition if you states the average figures of your blood sugar, as well as regular past HbA1c. Considering...

    Switched To Tresiba

Like many people do and have already stated, you can try taking Tresiba just at evening/night (after speaking to a Diabetic consultant or doctor) in order to try to avoid afternoon lows and prevent continuous eating. Personally, I take 18 units at night, approximately 8pm, and don’t really...

    4.4 Before Bed

I agree with reducing insulin, instead of having to correct. At 4.4 before bed I would have a small date, which is a fast-release and a healthy choice, but it increases sugar-levels quite fast. So would be better fitted with lower sugar levels!!!

    Levemir 24 Hours

I don’t split the long-acting. I take about 18-20 units at 8:30 pm every night. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem to create issues, though I have noticed that my sugar is usually on the lower side in the morning. I do think that a small effect does remain for most of the day, but I can’t say about...

Terrified Of Recent Night Time Hypos.

This could be something that is already in your routine, or something you occasionally do, but you could try setting a couple (1 or 2) alarms in the night, where you get up and check your blood sugar. This way you can combat your fear by knowing you will be awake later, for say you put your...

    Lump Immediately After Injecting

After repeated injecting at the same site, lumps and ‘sore spots’ start forming. Try to vary the areas you inject on, and see if that helps.

New To This And Fed Up

Hi, welcome. However, you need not worry to much, after a while, pricking and checking your blood sugar will come naturally. Despite the fact that this is difficult, try to look at diabetes in a positive way. It will ensure that you stay healthy and fit, limiting your intake of carbohydrates...

    Type 1 Weight Loss

Hey!! I think just exercising regularly, going out for morning walks, at the least, could help you. You could try yoga if you want to. Drinking a good/healthy amount of water also helps loose weight. For a suitable diet, I believe that a nutritionist knows what is best (and safest)! Your...
