Any advice on protein shakes for workouts.

Hi, I go to the gym a minimum of 5 times a week (due to wedding preparations!) I use phd diet whey. It has no impact on my blood glucose at all and is only 90 calories per serving. This is the only protein I found which I don’t think tastes like chemicals!

    Type 1 Post Workout Insulin

I too am having a nightmare with excercise and T1 diabetes!! I mainly do weight training and whilst this previously made my levels sky rocket, I have found in the last couple of weeks I am having so many lows!! The lows sometimes happen mid workout and sometimes hours after. When my personal...

Type 1 Blood sugar spiking after breakfast

I am extremely insulin resistant in the mornings and sometimes have to pre bolus an hour before breakfast! My breakfast is usually a protein bar and a Kvarg yoghurt which in total is about 20g carbs. even then I sometimes still get a large spike!

    Body fat percentage and hypos?

Thank you! I already have my dress... and it fit when I bought it!! I know it is soooo difficult to lose weight. To be honest I’m slim anyway so for me it’s just about toning up and losing a bit of bossy fat. Somehow I have already lost some body fat and I’m being measured again this week -...

    Body fat percentage and hypos?

I actually don’t tend to do much cardio... I do a lot more weight training but my levels still seem to drop about an hour later!! I want to get my body fat percentage even lower so looks like I may need to drop my basal a bit more!

    Body fat percentage and hypos?

Unfortunately I don’t think I can do much more excercise... I go to the gym 5-6 times a week. I also always do 10,000 steps a day minimum ... more often than not it’s 15,000. I also know my body fat percentage has gone down so I must have more muscle..:: I think anyway!

    Body fat percentage and hypos?

The hypos are mainly happening on gym days .. although I do have some on non gym days (although not as many). Previously, I wold do a unit of insulin before a work out as I was drastically spiking. Now I do not but yet I’m having hypos after? The type of excercises during my workouts hasn’t...

Hi all, I have been diabetic for just over a year now. Of course when first diagnosed I lost a stone in 3 weeks - which was great but then the insulin started and I put it all back on and some .... :banghead: As I’m getting married I decided to join a gym, get a PT and reduce my calories. I...

Can u pls report your fasting c peptite and BG early on diagnosis?

my anti body test was negative - think that’s why my diagnosis is so up in the air! I think they are happy to just treat me as T1 due to my age, my symptoms, weight and how quickly I had to go on insulin! hope you get a diagnosis soon!

Can u pls report your fasting c peptite and BG early on diagnosis?

I still don’t have an official diagnosis .... but I am treated as T1 and insulin dependant on a nasal/bolus regime. I was 26 when my symptoms started - the usual thirst, thrush, losing weight (1 stone in 3 weeks), tiredness... My mum is T2 and my sister has gestational. I had my c peptide...

    Type 1 Alcoholic Beverages?!

I was never a big drinker pre diagnosis anyway. But now, if I do drink, I just monitor super close. I have a libre which makes it super easy. I find wine makes me go high and vodka makes me go low. But whatever I have drunk I always hypo in the night and so I set numerous alarms over the night...

    Overwhelmed is an understatement!

welcome! Just as a word of support the same happened to me last year.... got so dizzy I ended up in hospital and told I was diabetic. my hba1c was 103 - so very similar to yours. My most recent one (12 months later) was 50. Honestly it gets easier over time and don’t panic about getting you...

    Isolated

Hello, sorry you feel like that. I know quite a few T1 meet ups are arranged through instagram. I follow quite a few fellow young women who have T1 and they post about meet ups, although I have never attended. Search for such people with different hashtags such as #diabetesUK. Hope that helps!

Type 1 What’s your time in target on your Libre?

This is mine - I’ve been on the libre for maybe 6 months? Current a1c is 50.

    Cpeptide

That’s strange - are you on insulin already? I think my official diagnosis is ‘insulin dependant diabetic’ so now for ease I just say T1!

    Cpeptide

I had my c peptide done and I think my level was 400? I am now treated as T1 despite being antibody negative. I think they come to this conclusion as I was only 26, healthy weight and had lost a stone in 3 weeks prior to my diagnosis. I would push for a second c peptide!

Type 2 Glucose spikes after exercise?

I have a problem with my levels rising after exercise too. I’ve been experimenting with how to curb my spikes (which were 12-14) and have found that taking 2 units of humalog have helped me not to go above 10. Now I’m just working out how to stop an early hours of the morning hypo. My next plan...
