    Need some advice please

See if your partner can be reassigned to a non frontline role eg training new recruits/volunteers, telephone enquiries, other desk jobs. Ensure they wear as much ppe as they can, like masks and gloves, even if it is 'beyond' the guidance of his Trust/employer. Ensure they strip clothing and...

Hello, Thank You! ... and Help?

Hi peeps! Sorry I've not been around for awhile. Life's been busy. I thought I might post a good news update on myself, in the hope it is useful to others. Been doing a low cal (Cambridge 1:1) diet from May 2019 until now, starting to switch back to low carb. Since dx in Oct 2018 I've lost 27...

    Type 2 Diabetic or not?

Thanks to OP for posting. Your weightlifting may well have counterbalanced your overconsumption of carbs (for you). Stopping that and increased weight pushed you into diabetes. I think things have changed now so one can't order tests (or px) for oneself (good old days - or perhaps more ethical...

Type 1 First hypo related seizure

A non diabetic friend had a seizure recently. She had to see a specialist doc at the local hospital (I think neurologist?) who examined her and thought repeat unlikely. Still my friend was obliged to notify dvla and has had her license temp suspended for 6 months to check it doesn't repeat. OP...

Thanks @Resurgam Ooh! I never thought to try it 'dry' or am I confusing husk and whole? I'd like to try that soon. [emoji106]

    Type 2 Extreme Drowsiness

Thanks @jjraak. Reflected my fatigue/brain fog/zombie feelings at dx. I might consider changing it in due course. Today I contemplated an exercise activity pattern to cover everyday of the week. Just thinking that is BIG for me. Took me a couple of months from dx to try my first exercise class...

    Fybogel

Psyllium husk is good too if you don't like fybrogel. I liked it best in porridge but others don't like the slimey gelatinous gloopiness of it when water is added.

    Type 2 Extreme Drowsiness

To add to &Struma's great post, I felt dreadful with a dx hb1c of 47, so it might just be your diabetes. However as well as anemia and thyroid you should ask your GP to check your vitamin + minerals too? Have you been on metformin? It can deplete B12 from the body. I found it easy to change my...

NHS England seeking community views for new type 2 diabetes website

Well I tried to complete but unable to add anything to Q5 using iphone. So I don't think my survey views were added. Not impressive but this is from NHS who push Eatwell so what to expect. Disappointing!

Weight loss not working - should I give up?

I wondered if intermittent fasting or HIIT exercise training might help but don't know if the hypothyroidism might not make either suitable. Things may need thyroid treatment to help the fbg? Persistence and consistency will hopefully teach your body a new normal? Good luck and let us know how...

    So far so good ...

Sorry for delayed reply. Am still focussing on trying to lose weight. It's going quite slowly now. BMI is still >25 and I'd like to reduce some noticeable fat. Don't want to think about afters yet much. Am thinking it'll prob be LCHF. I can't go back to my old ways or the problems will return.

    So far so good ...

Thank you. So far so good ...

An update on my dx. Initial hba1c was 54. Felt awful for 18 mths prior. Came here, read lots of great info and posts. I went low carb almost immediately and started feeling better. 3 mths on, with 0.5 g metformin, down to 42 and fatigue improved enough to start back with exercise. Lost 7 kg...

    Metformin and Psyllium husk

I like psyllium husk in porridge. It makes a kind of jelly with water which some do not like. I would recommend eating the psyllium husk earlier in the meal with the metformin at the end, or preferably take the metformin with a different meal.
