    20 week scan

HI Jade, I had those scans as well, it's normal as with the diabetes there is an increase risk of cardiac problems in the baby so they do a detailed heart scan (fetal echo). Some departments do the doppler and others don't, just depends on local guidelines. Glad to see you're doing so well! x

    lchf pregnancy

Hi Lexa. I'm exactly the same as you and did low carb diet throughout my pregnancy (apart from when the occasional craving won). My diabetes team were against it but I told them I had to do it to control my BMs so they eventually accepted it. I maintained my hba1c about 5.0 and had a healthy...

    Positive. Panic has set in.

Congrats Lexa! Hope it goes well with the midwife when you see her. You need to be on high dose folic acid (5mg not the 400mcg that is in pregnacare). Phone your Gp and ask them to get a prescription done for you ASAP as that is really important. How're your blood sugars doing? Such an exciting...

    Labour Advice!

HI Steph, a sliding scale is where you are on in intravenous infusion with insulin and dextrose going in at different concentrations depending on what your blood sugar is so they can control your sugars. When you're in labour they want you to keep your sugars between 4-7 as a BM of higher than 7...

    Being induced with diabetes

Hi Lolli. I was induced at 37 weeks. Had pessary put in at 7pm on the weds, started contracting at about 10pm that evening...they continued for 20hrs but didn't increase (although I maxed out on tablet painkillers so I thought it was pretty bad!). I spent the next day climbing flights of stairs...

    Induction

Hi Yuste. I have type 1 and in February was induced at 38 weeks after a very straight forwards pregnancy and hba1c of 5.1. I had the hormone pessary in for 24 hrs and then my waters broke. I then laboured quickly and normally and my baby girl was delivered naturally 4hrs later, weighing 6...

    Blood pressure in Pregnancy

Cholesterol in pregnancy is not worth measuring as it is not related to hypertension of pregnancy or accurate. I agree with primmers....this needs to be managed by the obstetricians in an appropriate manner.
