    Wagamama

Obviously there may be things that spike you - I can’t go near Chinese takeaway food without my sugars doing an impression of Mount Vesuvius - but for some reason it didn’t seem that sauce heavy- oil and egg glaze according to the recipe book. Yay!

    Wagamama

Since my T2 diagnosis I’ve missed eating out at Wagamama. BOY, I’ve missed it. According to Carbs & Cals the only low carb main was a sirloin and shiitake salad. But I went in the other day and asked for the noodles to be substituted for bean sprouts in a yaki soba main dish and two things...

Type 2 Newbie T2 overwhelmed by diet change

So much good advice here. From my 6 month t2 experience: look after the sugars and up your exercise moderately and the cholesterol will naturally drop. I’ve now cut my metformin dose in half and am maintaining BG levels - a meter is absolutely essential. Read elsewhere on the forum for ways to...

    Diabetic ice cream

Saw some this summer in Keswick, Cumbria. Had a dig around on the company’s website - turns out it would have had my bloods bouncing around the stratosphere for the next eight hours!

    Yay!

Thanks. I read one last week -a newly diagnosed T2 who had a huge drop in their first few months - I knew my test was coming up and it made me feel so positive - that good things can happen - made me much more relaxed ... which I’m certain plays a huge role in our overall well-being.

    Yay!

I was diagnosed on June10th (aka the start of National Diabetes week!) with an HBA1C of 107. Like all of us, it was a hell of a shock so I read the bulletin boards like crazy and tried to turn things around. Metformin 2x500 a day plus a statin. I’ve tried to hammer my carbs and do more...

Newly diagnosed , confused and scared

Hi. I was diagnosed three months ago - on National Diabetes Day! - and know the sense of panic all too well: head in hands, “what the heck am I going to do?”, “my whole life has changed...”. I think we’ve all been there - and, at different speeds, I think we all get over it - or at least come...

    Eyesight. It’s a miracle! T2. Newly diagnosed.

Thanks for all your insight (no pun intended). I’ll savour every day but will be aware it’s temporary and I won’t get rid of my specs!

    Eyesight. It’s a miracle! T2. Newly diagnosed.

I fear the same thing. But for now... I’ll go and see as many films as I can and sit at the back of the cinema!

    Eyesight. It’s a miracle! T2. Newly diagnosed.

Ten days after my diagnosis and life was pretty miserable as I started to come to terms with what diabetes means to me. BUT... something really strange has happened and I wonder how common it is. I’ve been shortsighted since my early teens. I’ve never driven without glasses. I woke up one...

    Metformin side effects

This may sound really silly but what does the metformin actually do? I thought it was to drop your levels but I think I’ve got that wrong. Thanks for the advice - really appreciate it and the other advice from others.

    Metformin side effects

Maybe that’s their use? To stop temptation. Glad it’s not just me that feels death would be preferable to this. GP next week - I’ll ‘have a word’!

    Metformin side effects

Hi. Newly diagnosed T2. This week. All my own fault. Now on low carb and 2000 Metformin a day. Did the devil him/herself make this drug?? I went up from 1 tab a day to the 4 I’m now on. Vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, cramps ... and that’s without the mental trauma of getting to grips with it...
