    Checking for ketones

Hi and thank you for your reply. I feel fine. I only tested out of curiosity, I never expected to have ketones but I do have them, moderate to large, almost everyday for a few days. And I double checked with my blood ketone monitor, which has come back with results as 1.9, 2.2, 2.4. Just not...

    Checking for ketones

I read about DKA and it really scares me! I learned checking for ketones and have been checking for ketones randomly using ketone urine sticks. Lately, I've had moderate-high ketones, with blood sugars below 200, even below 150, yet I feel fine. I have a blood ketone monitor and I've had...

    Jardiance

My drs have told me that Jardiance will be safe and effective to help treat Type 1 patients along with insulin. The clinical trials are underway and I think in China, it has already been approved. Jardiance shows potential in type 1 diabetes, clearing Phase 3 tests | BioPharma Dive...

    Glucose in cells

Hi and thank you. I think people have good intentions but this one woman is so pushy! ... anyway. When I was dx'd last September I went from 130 to 122 and felt really weak. I've gained my weight back but I haven't built my muscles back up. My vitamin D was the low end of normal so I'm...

    Glucose in cells

So, I'm 50, I have type 1, I'm in the honeymoon phase for almost a year and have an a1c of 6. My last c-peptide was low-normal. I eat about 140 carbs a day and take 2 units of lantus once daily. My blood sugars spike when I eat but come back down. Someone on a FB page told me that NONE of...

    Going low

Oh my gosh .... SO informative. I actually teared up a bit because you, as well as the others have put my mind at ease somewhat. I have already had my issues with basal. I was on 2 units, and being uneducated I thought, how about another 1 or 2 units more? Big mistake I was also away and...

    Going low

Thank you for the replies. It feels like not much is written in stone when it comes to diabetes. But it's safe to say, if I took meal time, fast acting insulin with dinner at 6, I can be positive that at 12 or midnight, I'm not going to drop in my sleep, assuming I haven't exercised that night...

    Jardiance

Does anyone take Jardiance with type 1 (while honeymooning)? My a1c is 6 (u.s.) and it keeps my BG down for now but I have this nagging feeling that I should give it up and only take insulin. At least that's what people are telling me. Stopping would mean that my BG would be about 50 points...

    Going low

Hi I'm new to type 1, or LADA. I'm honeymooning and trying to gather as much info as I can. If someone is taking fast acting, meal time insulin, would they go low in their sleep? Why do people go hypo, and how can you avoid it? Thank you.
