Hypo after very high carb meal (high carb on doctor’s advice)

After waiting 10 months, I’ve finally had a phone consultation with a diabetes consultant. In December 2019 I had HbA1c of 57 and was diagnosed as type 2. I was allowed to try and reverse it with a low carb diet, but in March 2020 (by when I’d lost a huge amount of weight) my HbA1c had shot up...

Thank you! I have to hope I can maintain it.

In shock - HbA1c reading down to 40. In remission?

I’m one of the mesh injured women that are being written and talked about since the report by Baroness Cumberledge was published yesterday, 9 July. I’m convinced that all the infections I’ve had since the mesh was inserted, including permanent facial paralysis that was thought to be caused by a...

In shock - HbA1c reading down to 40. In remission?

Thank you for your kind words. I’m looking forward to hearing from a nurse or doctor about whether I need to continue taking insulin. I’m hoping I can come off of it.

In shock - HbA1c reading down to 40. In remission?

I actually can’t believe it, not until I’ve spoken to my diabetes nurse. I have changed my diet, but not drastically. I’ve reduced the amount of carbs I eat but still have the odd slice of toast and bowl of porridge. I’ve actually put weight back on, which I’m annoyed about. I was warned...

In shock - HbA1c reading down to 40. In remission?

I’ve just been given the results of my latest HbA1c blood test. In December 2019 my HbA1c was 57 and I was diagnosed as type 2. I didn’t start on any medication as I hoped to reverse it by diet. However, in March 2020 my HbA1c shot up to 135 and my GP assumed that my pancreas had stopped...

    Insulin & headaches + migraines

Thank you for the link to dietdoctor.com, I’ll follow it up. Because the hospital won’t see me because of Covid I haven’t had all the help and advice I should have had soon after diagnosis. I’ve asked my diabetes nurse about diet and have been told to not worry at the moment about what to eat...

    Insulin & headaches + migraines

Your point about fluids is interesting. Prior to diagnosis I was drinking for England, I was so thirsty all the time. Now I find I’m not thirsty and thinking about how much fluid I now intake daily it’s now actually very low, nowhere near 2000ml daily. I’ll make a conscious effort to increase...

    Insulin & headaches + migraines

Eating so many different things: lots of different vegetables (both root & green) & salad items, protein including eggs, fish and meat, also berry fruits, apples & tomatoes, baked beans some days, 2 slices of bread, full fat yogurt - these are all typical daily foods. This morning was a good...

    Insulin & headaches + migraines

Hi, what did you Google? I’ve tried Googling for information but didn’t find anything that answered my question. Re diet, I’m following a lower carb healthy eating diet similar to what I always ate so my diet hasn’t changed dramatically.

    Insulin & headaches + migraines

I’m on two types of insulin for my recently diagnosed type 2 diabetes. Since taking insulin my blood sugars have dropped dramatically and my 3 x daily readings are within 4.2 to 6 before each mealtime, so are within the 5 to 7.9 target set by my diabetes nurse (my doses have just been reduced...

Revita: has anyone had this procedure?

Thank you for the link. I’ve looked to see what the procedure involves and I’m not put off by it, however I wouldn’t qualify for the trial as I inject insulin so don’t fit the criteria. It’s still very early days for me and I remain optimistic that I might be able to come off insulin.

Revita: has anyone had this procedure?

Good Housekeeping magazine has an interesting article about diabetes in their latest magazine and they wrote about this procedure. I’m newly type 2 but was put straight onto insulin, which I’m struggling to accept as a way of life for the rest of my life. I’m doing well in bringing down my...

Revita: has anyone had this procedure?

I’ve just been reading about the surgical procedure Revita. Everything I’ve read sounds very positive but it’s a very new procedure. Have any of you had this procedure, or know of someone who has had it, and is so is it effective?
