    Pre proliferative retinopathy

I have recently been diagnosed with Diabetic retinopathy & have to go for an eye injection on Thursday. Frankly I`m not looking forward to this. Anyone else had this treatment & can reassure me its not going to be as bad as I am imagining?

Hi everyone. Its been a while since I asked anything but I`m pleased to report since being diagnosed with Type 2 in march i have been very good & have reduced my blood sugar to almost borderline diabetes levels. I am still taking Metformin 1000 mg x 2 per day & although I have been told I can...

Oh thanks so much for that. I was having a bad day yesterday & feeling a bit down about lots of things. My daughter has been doing a low carb diet for a while now to lose weight & I miss proper contact with her & her support. My poor husband got the brunt of yesterdays wobble :( I hear what you...

Thanks for that. That is the most positive so far...& I needed that today...& makes sense. I will try testing before & after some meals...esp if I sneak something naughty in there like the potato or the fruit. Thanks again. :)

Thanks again. I might try that testing before & after meals...it might be interesting to see what I can & can`t tolerate. I do miss cooking...you are right. We have recently come back to the UK after having lived in France for 13 years...& I do miss a lot of the food we used to eat there...

Ok...thanks to both of you but a cooked breakfast is not what I want every day. I often eat bacon & eggs for lunch. And I`m not prepared to give up the fruit...so I guess I`ll just have to live with these levels then. Pretty fed up with all this I can tell you :(

I was told that & most of the literature tells you otherwise. Good to know though... explains a lot about the higher morning readings

Hi everyone. I`m still working hard at getting my BS levels down (diagnosed as Type 2 in January with a BS level of 16 +). I am sticking to a low carb diet & taking Metformin 1000mg in the morning & 500mg in the evening as prescribed. My BS levels are usually in the 7s fasting & lower in the...

Need advice, must I take Metformin straight away???

If Metformin only has a small affect on BS levels, why is it so widely prescribed? I am taking it & the nurses keep trying to increase it but on the odd occasions when I forget to take it(I`m still new to all this & have never had any medication for years!) I see no change in my BS results at all.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

7.7. Still fairly new to all this & not seeing any steady patterns yet. It has been in the 9s the last couple of days. Also I forgot to take my Metformin tablet yesterday evening so quite pleased it wasn`t higher :)
