    Adjusting Basal without doctor/nurse

Hi all and thanks for your time, I’m on Lantus I usually take 16 units a day, every couple of months for some reason, even though I’m regularly active, my fasting glucose levels increase throughout the day, calling for 18 units of Lantus instead of the original 16. And then a few weeks later...

    Terrible Blood Glucose

Hi all I hope everyone is well. I’m on Lantus 16U in the morning and Novorapid bolus. For the past few weeks, even couple of months, I’ve had more or less solid (good) blood glucose control, I attribute it to my CGM it’s been so useful. In the last few days, my blood glucose levels have been...

    Number of daily injections

Hi, thank you, I’m not sure what a basal test is? I think my basal might be too low to be honest because my fasting glucose level stays at about 9mmol/L

    Number of daily injections

Thank you! But I’ve tried even increasing my insulin:carb ratio and I just end up going too low. I’m almost 100% certain it’s the protein that makes my glucose go up 4/5 hours later, I saw it online and it made a lot of sense because whenever I have protein my glucose goes up later. So I don’t...

    Number of daily injections

Hi all I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe I’m on Lantus in the morning 16U and NovoRapid pre meal I have a question or two: I currently am on 5/6 injections a day. 1 from Lantus in the morning and 3 prior to every meal with an injection an hour after my meals if I have some protein in...

    Fasting blood sugar

How are you all getting such low numbers, if I’m anywhere below 4.6 I start getting hypo symptoms and there’s almost no way of me choosing where my BG will go after a meal, it will stay between 5 and 8 though Do you guys inject half doses or what? If I’m on 8 I’m happy [emoji28]

    Weirdly High BG

I thought the insulin might be off but the pen looks very clear, and it works because my glucose does go down, it just takes a couple of units more than usual as you said. And yes I rotate sites all the time

    Weirdly High BG

Hi all, In the last few days my blood glucose have been weirdly high and have really struggled to drop even with a correction dose after a meal or even delayed drops with exercise etc. I have a weird feeling that the cold may be affecting them? Is that even possible? Anyone else have this...

    Refillable Insulin Pens

Hi all, A bit of a random one: Basically there’s always an issue with my GP and the prescription they send out to the pharmacy. Anyways today as a bit of a (unexpected I guess) surprise, instead of the regular Lantus pre-filled pens, my GP had prescribed a refillable Lantus Cartridge. To cut a...

    Feet complications

Hi all, I have recently found out that there are feet complications that can come with diabetes? Is there anyone who could perhaps elaborate on what sort of issues, how they come about, and how to avoid them? I was totally unaware of this and am not sure whether there is something I should be...

    Keeping BG steady

Thank you! Are spikes okay though? Should I be trying to reduce them or will it not have any lasting effects if I keep having temporary spikes after meals?

    Keeping BG steady

Hi all, Fairly new diagnosis and I am on Lantus in the morning and NovoRapid for meals. I was wondering whether after a meal I am supposed to see a big spike (15+ mmol/L) in blood sugar and then gradually go down over the next few hours or should I be aiming to inject and eat such that the...

What do you guys carb count?

Hey! I’ll begin by being honest and saying I’ve been doing this for a month but perhaps you’ll find my findings useful: 1. I’ve been recommended to not count proteins and vegetables and beans as you said (other than potato and I think onions, maybe they’re quite sweet). I’ve found similar in...
